Xbox Hinting at More Stock Ahead of Launch?

With the initial wave of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S preorders done and out of the way, fans are wondering what is next...well at least fans who were not able to snag their preorders yesterday. While things in Europe seemed to work fairly well - outside of a few hiccups with some retailers - things in North America were terrible. Sites crashing, carts not loading, and some sites (Amazon) not even listing their preorder consoles until well after the 11:00 AM time that Xbox greenlight the process.

Second Wave of Xbox Preorders in Australia Less Popular

During the rush yesterday, EB Games Australia was active on Twitter, letting consumers know when the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S were sold out. And, like in Europe today, it didn't take long for that to happen. EB Games Australia did promise a second wave of preorders would be available today, with delivery still in 2020.

Xbox Series X sells out in 20 minutes on Amazon UK

Xbox Series X sold out in less than 20 minutes on Amazon UK, with other stores also struggling to meet demand. Preorders for Microsoft’s most powerful console began at a little after 8am, instantly crashing the Amazon page when it appeared. Lucky gamers who managed to actually reach the purchase page didn’t have long to buy their device – it was reading “currently unavailable” by 8.20am. Elsewhere, Smyths and Game were both having issues. The two major retailers were the…

There’s no need to believe in generations – and luckily Microsoft and Sony agree

In an ideal world, launch games would be generation proof right out of the gate. We’d have Last of Us 2 quality games to play on day one, developer experience be damned. That’s not the real world though. In the real world, generations are mostly bluff and bluster, and there’s no reason to force people to upgrade. Since it was revealed that Horizon and Spider-man will be cross-gen games last night, some have declared it the death of next-gen. Developers…

‘Bring Back the Battletoads’: Couch co-op is hurting, and it’s not getting better

Couch co-op has been on life support for longer than I care to think. Now even the staples are starting to get away from split-screen. With next-gen shockingly close, it doesn’t seem things are going to be getting any better. Battletoads gave a nostalgic feeling for a time when every great game seemed to be better with friends. That’s still true for today in many ways – so long as you’re not actually sat next to those friends. Keeping those…

Immortals: Fenyx Rising Shown At the Ubisoft Forward Event

Immortals: Fenyx Rising was shown at the Ubisoft Forward event. Check out some footage for the game below. We have some thoughts on it! Immortals: Fenyx Rising looks like Breath of the Wild had a bady with Greek Myth (or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?). The game looks really good! Immortals, much like Breath of the Wild, will have a huge open world that players can explore from the get-go. The Greek myth inclusion: from Zeus to Medusa and more makes this…

Microsoft “Winning” on Multiple Fronts with Xbox Series X and S

If we want to say one major console manufacturer is 'winning' over another, the current edge goes to Microsoft and their Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Thing is, it's pretty easy to win when you are technically the only system with a firm pricing structure and release date. But even further than that, Microsoft is starting the next generation off right, in three big ways.

Thank God for Leakers Who Do What Microsoft and Sony Don’t

In nine and a half weeks, the next generation begins. First the Xbox Series consoles will be on shelves, followed swiftly by the PlayStation 5. Nine and a half short weeks, and most of the stuff we know about these devices has still come via dodgy Twitter profiles and 4chan posts. It’d be easy to blame coronavirus or some dripfeed method of teasing, but it’s simpler than that: video game marketing is broken – and those dodgy Twitter profiles are…

Xbox Series S Officially(!) Announced

You may have seen it in insider leaks, from the booklets in controllers or even on leaflets for Gamepass, but Microsoft have finally decided to announce the Xbox Series S. The worst kept secret in gaming is also shaping up to be the best value entry into the next generation. At just $299/£250 you get a console that will play all next-generation games with a target of 1080p. Since the advert boasts 100 games on Gamepass, I think it’s safe…

On the Road to Delos Crossing: The Evolution of Adventure Games

It wasn’t that long ago that adventure games meant solving obscure puzzles and impossible save states. The genre has changed immeasurably over the last 30 years, but that doesn’t mean the key ingredients aren’t still there. With the release of Tell Me Why, we’re looking back at the biggest titles, and at why we still love adventure all these years later. Tell Me Why takes the genre to new heights, building a realistic world with fascinating characters. The adventure today…
