Ubisoft Canada Has Next Generation Console Launch to Remember

New consoles are incredibly exciting. I still remember living through the many consoles launches of Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox product as a fan, and was able to be on the front-line of the New Nintendo 3DS launch, the Nintendo Switch launch, the Xbox One X launch, and now of course, the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch. Of course the hardware capabilities are incredibly important when launching a new system, but part of what determines the success of a console launch are the titles that ship alongside it. And one company shone brighter than the others.

Immortals Fenyx Rising – A Beginner’s Guide to Becoming Legendary

There are some games where the minimum you want to be is legendary. Luckily, Immortals Fenyx Rising makes that nice and easy. On a basic level, you’ll spend most of your time in-game helping out gods and exploring for items which will enable you to level up. You’ll do the former through quest items, while the latter will take a bit more work on your part. That work is really worth it. The more you can level up your equipment,…

We Need A Limited Series of Immortals Titles

Almost half of the staff at GamesReviews have been diving into Immortals Fenyx Rising over the past two weeks, and for the most part, we are all really impressive with this brand new IP from Ubisoft Quebec. While borrowing heavily from Assassin's Creed Odyssey, this game does set it's own path with a humerous story and fantastic charactesr that feel unique and alive.

More Thoughts From Me #247: What about 2021?

As the year 2020 starts to finish up (thank goodness), we have to wonder: what will happen next year? To keep things more game centric: what will developers/publishers and companies like Nintendo, Xbox, and Sony put out next year? Here are my thoughts! 2021 might be another tough year for video games (and everything else) like this year. I won’t say 2020 was a bad year for video games. We got Animal Crossing New Horizons, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The…

Financial Hardships Make Xbox Series X a Great Console Choice

2020 has been a really tough year for many folks, and while video game consoles might not be the highest priority on everyone's list if they are experiencing financial hardships, some folks do have just enough saved up and lying around to not only survive this pandemic, but also get in on the latest and great tech.

Compromise has been the watchword of this generation – and thankfully that’s about to change

There was some chatter earlier this year that the jump this new generation will give us will be the biggest since the leap between 2D and 3D. Don’t just dismiss that as marketing talk, because it’s very true. Since the strongest 2d games were released for the SNES, we’ve seen a very slow transition to 3D. PS1 and PS2 were about finding the roots that would lead us to gaming as we know it today. PS3 was about building those…

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Review-in-Progress

Assassin's Creed has been one of my favourite franchises of all time, and the changes they have made in the last few entries are wonderful in almost every way. While there were a few things in Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey that I didn't enjoy, some of those issues have been rectified in what I like to call the "New Era" of Assassin's Creed titles. From start to finish, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a fantastic experience, punctuated by dozens of highs, and very few lows. Let's dive in!

Although It Doesn’t Feel Like Next Gen, Xbox is Consumer Friendly. And That Counts

I've been having discussions on Twitter with a bunch of folks around which next generation console feels more next generation, and from an outside perspective without having touched either yet (hopefully soon readers, hopefully soon! Many have been asking!), I've been fairly consistent in saying that PlayStation 5 feels much more next generation than Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S. And that's not a knock on Xbox. In fact, when you dive deeper into my reasoning, it's ultimately the system we would recommend this holiday!

Canadian Studios Pumping out Quality AAA Titles

Today is yet another big day in a long history of big days for Ubisoft, a worldwide video game development company with multiple studios scattered around Canada. One of the largest - Ubisoft Toronto - was the team behind today's launch, Watch Dogs: Legion. Yesterday, Ubisoft Toronto hosted an industry event via YouTube, giving media and fans the opportunity to ask questions of the Toronto team, about how Watch Dogs: Legion was created. We asked a few of our own questions around the various studios working relationships, and got some fantastic responses!

Does Watch Dogs: Legion miss having a single Protagonist?

I've been exploring the streets of London thanks to Ubisoft Canada, and while Kevin Austin has been focusing on our review of the title, I've been putting my energy into some supplementary articles. One of the biggest questions I had going into Watch Dogs: Legion, and one I think I've finally answered, is "does Watch Dogs: Legion miss having a singular protagonist?" Let's dive in.
