My farm in Story of Seasons continues to be prosperous, and I figured I would post a short update on what has been going on in Autumn Year 1. I've planted new crops, grown my flock of chickens, and invested in fish hacheries. So far, it has been a great season.

I firmly believe that one outstanding game can ruin another outstanding game, especially when talking about games that require a significant time investment. Few indie titles get missed because they are generally shorter. Thankfully, if two 'big' indie games launch in the same week they are short enough for me to enjoy both.

While graphically I would take the PC graphics of Transportation Tycoon Deluxe, A-Train City Simulator provides an equally satisfying experience, and it is available on 3DS which means it is portable. I've only played for a few hours, and am still trying to make my way through the tutorial, but I've enjoyed what I have played so far.

Story of Seasons gets better and better. A lot of great things happened in Summer Year 1 which just added to my excitement for this game. I had new crops to plant, new routines to follow, and new traders available. Summer Year 1 was very successful for myself, and my farm did really well.

Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii was an underappreciated late-comer to the console. Very few people played it, yet those that did were very vocal about it: the looks of the game, how big it was, and how mainstream it could be, despite falling into the JRPG category. When Monolith Soft announced a remake of this beloved title on the New 3DS - first exclusive to the New handheld - fans began to get excited, and some even purchased the New 3DS just for this.

We have had a wonderful relationship with Nintendo for well over a year now. They are great at answering questions, inviting us to events, and providing us with copies of games for review. Certain games are either free-to-play, meaning we don't need to wait for a review copy, or Nintendo simply doesn't have copies available for certain things.

Fantasy Farming simulators isn't just about the economy. They have always been loaded with house upgrades and tool upgrades. Story of Seasons is no different. In this final diary entry for Spring, we will look at the improvements I've made around my farm.

Life off the farm is almost as important as life on the farm. Although I assume I'll do this less when I have tons of crops to deal with, I made sure to make daily dives in the three swimming areas currently available to me. Although I don't have a fishing pole yet, I cannot see Story of Seasons keeping me from my favorite past time; at least not for too long.

It is always hard to review lengthy games like the Harvest Moon franchise. By design, the pace is generally slow, everything is done on your own time, and unlike a sprawling AAA title, they are often directionless. So, I have instead decided to run a series of diary entries while I play Story of Seasons, chronicling each season I play.

Today's Nintendo Direct shed a lot of light on the newest wave of amiibo, as well as other amiibo that will be launching later this year in conjunction with a number of games. Here are the highlights (courtesy of my viewing, and Nintendo of Canada's Press Release):
