State of Decay Review

State of Decay is the zombie game that is taking the world by storm, after seeming to come almost out of nowhere. With a distinct lack of marketing dollars spent on the game, it's incredible to see how word of mouth has sold so many people on surviving a zombie apocalypse. But when you actually play the game, it's easy to see why the word of mouth is so positive. Despite a few issues, State of Decay is essentially the zombie game that people have been asking about for ages.

Remember Me Review

For many, science is frightening. For all of the wonderful and amazing things it's capable of, numerous people fear that in the wrong hands science can, and will, be used for evil. To be sure, this has happened before, and since humans are skeptical by nature, it's no surprise a lot of us feel this way. It's these worries that are the reason why science fiction like Remember Me exists. The very thought that a morally ambiguous corporation (Memorize, in this case) would create a brain implant called the “Sensation Engine” (Sensen) that's able to change our ...

Saints Row 2 Review

On March 15th 2013, Saints Row IV was officially announced. Rewind to 2006, a little known game called Saints Row was hitting the shelves for the very first time. Since the game was released solely on the Xbox, I sadly couldn’t buy it; as I only had a PlayStation 2. So imagine my joy when it was announced that the sequel was to be released on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Many assumed that the original Saints Row would be another wannabe Grand Theft Auto, much like other sandbox games such as True Crime Streets of L.A. and The Getaway; all vying ...

The Incredible Adv. of Van Helsing Review

In 2004 Hugh Jackman made a movie called Van Helsing where he fights vampires and werewolves. There was a tie-in game based on it, but neither the game or the movie were worth remembering nine years later. The new indie game The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing has no official relation to that movie, but it does use the film’s clever idea of re-imagining the character of Van Helsing as a tough monster-hunter in a world overrun by gothic horrors. It combines that premise with the ever-popular “It’s like Diablo” genre of games for a bloody and ...

Sniper Elite V2 Review

Towards the end of World War 2, with all of the great powers of the world arrayed against them and closing in from all sides, the Nazi war machine had one last chance to turn the tide: the V2 rocket program. As the program nears completion, scientists working on the rockets begin making deals with Americans and Russian forces to escape from the sinking ship that is Nazi Germany. One American sniper is deployed behind enemy lines in order to find these scientists, eliminate any that are considering joining the Russians, and make sure the V2 rocket program ...

Metal Gear Solid 4 Review

Solid Snake returns, although this time he's older, more world-weary. Years of fighting the patriots, of being lied to at every turn have had their toll, and his body's increased ageing have made him grey before his years. None of that matters though: he's about to embark on his hardest mission yet, a mission that will test the limits of his physical and mental strength and that will, hopefully, let the old soldier rest upon completion.

Bad Bots Review

Another day, another indie side-scrolling shooter. They seem to be a dime a dozen currently, but that's OK since they serve a purpose – fast entertainment on the cheap. Point 5 Projects' Bad Bots is another 2D shooter that recently hit the scene. Like many games of its ilk, it tries to recapture old-school aesthetics by providing gamers with challenging arcade action. Bad Bots accomplishes this, but in a way that feels incomplete.

Velocity Ultra Review

Velocity was constantly named one of the best PlayStation Minis and ended up ranked as one of the best games available on PSP. It amazed critics and placed FuturLab firmly as a company to watch, a was the game that seems to have cemented their relationship with Sony and gotten them work on both PlayStation Mobile and now PlayStation Vita. A little more than twelve months after the release of the original, FuturLab have remade Velocity as a full blown Vita game, complete with a platinum trophy, upgraded visuals and leaderboards. Is that enough to make the ...

Metal Gear Rising Blade Wolf DLC Review

There’s a line of dialog in Metal Gear Solid where the character Otacon points out that the villainess Sniper Wolf likes dogs and he says that no one who likes dogs can be entirely evil. Sure, that might be Stokholm Syndrome, but it’s also another way of saying that

Deadly Premonition:Director’s Cut Review

It's impossible to judge Deadly Premonition on any traditional scale. The graphics are laughable, the gameplay bland and repetitive, the basic mechanics borderline broken and the script filled with (hopefully intentional) cheesy lines. It is, by almost any measure, a terrible game. Except it isn't.
