Final Fantasy VIII Steam Review

Final Fantasy VIII was completely mind-blowing to those of us who had been obsessed with Final Fantasy VII. The locations were dark, the characters followed you around and they even managed to have hands. It helped that it was a decent title in its own right, and now it's been re-released on Steam, with a few modern features squeezed in. Is it worth another investment, or should you stick to your Vita download?

Broken Sword 5 Review

Broken Sword is one of those point and click titles that just keeps on trying. Like Leisure Suit Larry and Monkey Island, there's something about the nostalgia behind those original titles that have kept people asking for more. Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse is the latest in the franchise, and on the whole it's rather successful, just so long as you know exactly what it is you're going in to.

PS4 Firmware 1.52 Released

The first post-release firmware update has been released for the PlayStation 4, and it's a little underwhelming. While you'd hope the switch to next-gen might encourage Sony to open up a little bit about what's changed between firmware versions, the explanation for 1.52 is simply that it "improves system stability."

Xbox One Wins the Console War… On South Park

Last week's episode of South Park gave a brutal conclusion to the console war, and one that many PlayStation fans would no doubt be ready to contest. In one of the final scenes, Microsoft's Bill Gates savagely beat Sony's Kaz Hirai to death over which console the kids should pick up on Black Friday. If only it were that simple to shut up the internet and stop the silly arguments...

Telltale Announces “Tales from the Borderlands”

Borderlands has a pretty rich world, completed by recognisable and memorable characters. The only downside is all that distracting shooting. That's why it's pretty amazing (and just a little surprising) that Telltale are working on a new set of episodic content based in the world of Borderlands.

Raiden Returns in Ground Zeroes on Xbox One

Despite it being set in the past, Raiden will be making an appearance in the Xbox One version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes next year. The exclusive mission also brings back an enemy familiar to anybody who played Hideo Kojima's cult classic Snatcher. It's an interesting combination, and one that fans are sure to enjoy.

Contrast Review

From the press start screen, the first time you load Contrast, you'll instantly be taken to a place, a time, an atmosphere. The noir-esque art style and jazz era cabaret sparks a feeling that this game does so well throughout. It's odd, stylized, innocent, just like the characters you'll meet. In Contrast, the developers have created something that'll surprise and entertain. It's only when the music stops and the gameplay begins that things stop being as ...
