Xbox One Sells Two Million Units

Microsoft have today announced that their Xbox One console has sold two million units in the fortnight since it came out. That’s an amazing achievement and one that puts it almost neck and neck with the PlayStation 4. Fanboys might not have ammo for their pointless online arguments, but one thing is certain: it’s a good time to be a gamer.

This is made all the more impressive when you consider just how much negative PR proceeded the launch of the Xbox One. There were people attacking it at every step of the way, regardless of what was being announced or whether it could end up being something worthwhile. Even Sony stooped to insulting their competitor, a move that paid off with a certain sort of person.

In the end though, brand recognition paid out and people bought the Xbox One regardless of its higher price, less powerful tech and 720p output. Whether this says more about the people buying or the people who felt they were in the majority just because people were agreeing with them on the internet, I’m not sure, but it’s still excellent to know that over four million next-gen units have been shifted in a little under a month. It just goes to show that gaming is getting more and more popular.
