Raiden Returns in Ground Zeroes on Xbox One

Ground Zeroes

Despite it being set in the past, Raiden will be making an appearance in the Xbox One version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes next year. The exclusive mission also brings back an enemy familiar to anybody who played Hideo Kojima’s cult classic Snatcher. It’s an interesting combination, and one that fans are sure to enjoy.

The Jamais Vu mission is largely about an invasion of body snatchers. Raiden is brought in because he doesn’t actually have a human body. He’s a completely different character to control, with a few special moves based on Metal Gear Solid 4/Metal Gear Rising, so fans can expect a different kind of stealth from the slower paced Snake missions.

It looks interesting enough and, like the MGS1 mission exclusive to PlayStation 4, it’s no doubt going to make its way cross-platform at some point. It just makes no sense otherwise. A company makes exclusive content so that one particular version of the game looks more attractive than the other. This method requires fans to buy two different versions of Ground Zeroes to see the full game, something that even the biggest Metal Gear fan is likely to hold off on. The question isn’t if, but when. With the content done, it’s probably likely to be a matter of months, rather than years, but with nothing official backing any of this up, it’s hard to tell for certain.
