PS Vita price cut spotted

Images spotted on the PlayStation Asia Flicker account suggests the Vita is to receive a massive price deduction soon.

Spotted by a NeoGaf user, the image in question clearly shows a 45% discount on Sony’s struggling handheld console. The price of HK$1280 equates to roughly 169 US Dollars and includes an accessory pack and ModNation Racers: Road Trip. It’s a huge reduction to say the least, and one which will likely entice more players to make the move to portable gaming.

Released in February of last year, the Vita was met with very positive feedback thanks, in part, to its wide range of features such as its high quality OLED touchscreen, front and rear camera, rear touch and its user friendly interface. In fact, many would argue the Vita to be the best handheld ever released. However, sales figures tell a different story with the Vita struggling to keep its head above water selling just over 5.5 million since launch, largely due to the overly priced mandatory memory cards and a distinct lack of high quality software.

With Sony pushing the Vita as a secondary platform to stream your PS4 games, this price reduction may just breathe some life back into the handheld.

There’s also a rumour going around that a PS4/Vita bundle will be releasing this year too.
