Grand Theft Auto “Stories” Being Remastered for Vita

GTA-Vita

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories don’t get the love they deserve. As expansions on the PS2 classics, they built on the stories and characters of their respective games, but were left behind by only being available on PSP for the majority of their lifespan. A late release on PS2 and digital release on PS3 meant fans could rebuy, but hopefully the newly announced Vita version will offer a new life to these all too overlooked titles.

Now, we ought to just clarify, this isn’t technically official right now. Rockstar posted the announcement to their official Twitter feed and then quickly deleted it, so we only have the word of the people who saw it to prove it existed at all. Thankfully, quite a few sources are corroborating the story and it seems like more than a hoax.

The Tweet claimed that Grand Theft Auto Stories would be getting a release this Summer. No word on whether they’d be coming with a fresh batch of trophies for each game, but it’s safe to presume that they will, since they’re getting a physical release. This will make them the first GTA Remaster to get achievements, something Rockstar seems to have almost actively fought against since San Andreas hit Xbox 360 all those years ago.

Now that the story is out there, watch this space for the official word.
