Gears 5 Review

Officially releasing next Tuesday, Gears 5 is the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise and the second title to be released since Microsoft acquired the rights to the franchise from Epic Games in 2014. With Gears of War 4 receiving mixed reviews, fans of the franchise (myself included) were holding their collective breath, if not their high hopes, to see what time of experience we could expect out of Gears 5. Let me tell you that I couldn’t have seen it coming in a million years.

Control Review

Remedy has created a number of fantastic titles that don’t necessarily conform to the norm for story and game play. Think of great experiences like Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and now this year, Control. Control follows the quest of protagonist Jesse Faden, who enter the Federal Bureau of Control in search of her brother – once you step through the doors of this seemingly invisible building, things go from somewhat weird, to done right wacky. And for the most part,…

Wolfenstein: Youngblood feat

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Review

When diving into the world of Wolfenstein there are plenty of expectations. The alternative-history franchise has a large following of players that judge every new game based on the ones that came before it. This may be an inevitable human trait, but it often does not to justice to the raw quality of the newer title. This pitfall may be one of the biggest reasons some people will shy away from Wolfenstein: Youngblood as it plays drastically differently from its predecessors. This is not, however, necessarily a bad thing. Join us as we dive into this new co-op ...

Monster Jam Steel Titans Review

Monster Jam Steel Titans is one of the better Monster Truck games to ever land on consoles – the fantastic handling is the primary reason it stands so high above everyone else. While I had a lot of fun with the game, I let friends and family take their hand at the game, and it wasn’t as pretty. I came to a very real and quick observation: this game is too damn hard. Monster Jam Steel Titans is the 5th…

Rage 2 Review

Open world games are likely the hardest games to produce, even for the largest development teams. Because of time constraints and budgets, something is always going to get caught or downgraded to finish on time, and at least somewhere near the targeted budget. Skyrim, for example, was a fantastic experience, but suffered from lack of details in specific areas. When Bethesda announced – or more appropriately, Walmart Canada announced – Rage 2, I was wondering if we would see more…

World War Z 4

World War Z Review

Bullets, bodies, buddies. Need we say more? World War Z uses its simplistic genius in an attempt to topple giants of the industry with its madly entertaining co-op gameplay. For many of us, Left 4 Dead 2 remains the epitome of what a co-op zombie shooter should be. Not too complicated, easily picked up and full of undead horde-slaying madness. As it ages, however, is there room for a newcomer to sweep in and steal the spot as the top zombie shooter? Let’s take a look and find out!

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Review

Welcome to Feudal Japan, you will hate your time here. OK, you won’t, but this Souls and Bloodborne-esque experience is one that will have you throwing controllers, swearing at your TV, but always pulling you back for more punishment, and more learning experiences. It’s a different take on the ultra-hard-core video game experience, but each and every death teaches a valuable lesson that becomes important down the road, which was the driving reason to get me playing Sekiro: Shadows Die…
