Natsume, the company behind the Harvest Moon series which has graced numerous platforms, announced that they would be showing off three new Nintendo titles at E3. Little more was said, with no hints at whether or not these would be for 3DS or Wii U, or whether these were new franchises or not. Either way, a new Harvest Moon game would be very welcome!

Nintendo has an instant hit on their hands, and I'm pretty sure they - and everyone else for that matter - knew it before the game even launched. Opening weekend sales topped 1.2 million units. These numbers should not really be that surprising. After all, not only was Mario Kart 8 one of the most anticipated games of this generation, but there was also that amazing Club Nintendo promotion which gave those who registered Mario Kart 8 a free copy of another ...

As we head into E3, Nintendo continues to do little announcements, this time via twitter. Nintendo of America tweeted out a picture of a GameCube controller adapter for the Wii U, and announced that GameCube controllers would be useable when playing Super Smash Bros. This is great news, as the GameCube controller might be one of the best controllers Nintendo ever released.

E3 is approaching fast, and with only a little over a week until day 1, I decided I should get my Nintendo E3 predictions out there. Be warned: I have not canvassed the Internet to find what Nintendo is for sure announcing, and I definitely did not attempt to pass off the predictions of others as my own.

Nintendo may have finally delivered on their promise to licence out their favorite franchise characters. Yesterday, big news came out of Japan that Free DLC was coming to Mario Kart (currently Japan only) which includes a Mercedes themed kart. In appears that in return, Mario is making an appearance in the latest Japanese Mercedes commercials.

I wrote a previous article on GamesReviews about Nintendo diving into collectible, playable toys market. A day after the article was posted, it was announced that these toys would be usable across a variety of Nintendo games and not be tied to one specific game franchise like the toys used in Disney Infinity or Skylanders. One such rumor was that the NFC figures, scanned using the NFC reader on the Wii U gamepad, would be used in Super Smash Bros.

NES Remix II builds on the same basic gameplay mechanics of the original NES Remix. And this is great, because it allows players to attempt challenges in some more popular classic titles such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Zelda 2, Dr. Mario, and Punch-Out. NES Remix II added leaderboards, allowing players to post their scores to Miiverse and to compare with others. Although not a game changer, it was a welcome addition.

Nintendo is a financial powerhouse in the console and software business, regardless of how poor they have done lately. This is built off the backs of strong franchises such as Mario and Zelda. However, Nintendo does experiment with other intellectual properties, whether in a direct development role, or in a lesser role as a producer.

It has been a long wait. It seems like years since we received our first screens, months since that detailed, energetic Nintendo Direct... Now, it will only be a little over a week before we can all play it. It's almost Mario Kart time, and it just cannot seem to come fast enough. I had zero desire to sit down and write this up. I don't want to tell you about Mario Kart, I don't want to discuss Mario Kart, and I definitely don't want to waste valuable time ...

The tune many are singing right now is that Mario Kart 8 is a make-or-break title for the Wii U. While I originally agreed, a brief conversation with GamesReviews' own Mat Growcott made me change my mind, slightly. My take on the situation is that one game does not save a system, but, if released at a crucial time, it can be the catalyst that changes everything.
