Age of Empires Definitive Edition Impressions

Often times, when you remember a game from your youth, you tend to look at it through rose coloured glasses. In preparation for the review of Age of Empires Definitive Edition, I pulled a very old PC out of the basement, set it up, and ran my own personal copy of Age of Empires: Rise of Rome. And ladies and gentleman, that game is awful, especially when you look at all the great Age of Empires games that have launched since then. When Microsoft announced that we would be getting a new Age of Empires experience, all remastered and brought into the 21st century, I was incredibly excited. Does it make the game playable and fun? Let's take a look!

Google Pixel 2 Review

When reviewing cellphones, you quickly realize that companies are all trying to cater to a specific audience, marketing phones to those people, and not worrying about the larger market. In a world dominated by Apple and Samsung, other companies - such as BlackBerry, Google, and more - are left trying to make sure their product pops, and is more attractive than something else. For BlackBerry, it was all about creating a business-like device, high on security, and long lasting. For Google, and the Pixel 2, I think the goal is entertainment. We've spent a good 2 - 3 weeks with the Google Pixel 2, and although we don't like everything about it, it's a pretty good entertainment device at the end of the day.

Lots of new Products coming from Alcatel

If you've never heard of Alcatel, I'll be sure to give you a pass, but that name was being talked about a lot on Saturday afternoon after the company announced a long line-up of new products that will be available in the next little while. From affordable smartphones and tablets, to more expensive phone options, Alcatel is working on catering to a few different economic backgrounds, rather than focusing on high end or low end devices. This move by Alcatel is phenomenal, in my opinion, and I hope that spreading their resources over a number of devices doesn't end up biting them in the rear! We haven't personally tested any of these products - and we will if given the chance - but from what we are hearing, things look pretty positive!

Dynasty Warriors 9 Review

The Dynasty Warriors franchise has a huge following, and although I haven't bee playing the series for long - was drawn in during the Zelda remix days when Hyrule Warriors was released - I've come to enjoy the one-vs-hundreds model that the game seems to make work so well. In previous iterations of the franchise, players would prep for their battles and then jump in for an overview menu, dealing with each fight one at a time. In Dynasty Warriors 9, however, things get spun around, and you instead explore a vast open world. Does it work? Let's take a look!

Snakebyte Charge:Tower Pro

We've been reviewing a fair number of Snakebyte products over the last little while, although they have been all for the Nintendo Switch. The Snakebyte Charge:Tower Pro for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are the first items we've reviewed from this company not related to Nintendo. If our early impressions of both products is any indication, we will be purchasing more Snakebyte products for Xbox One and PS4 in the near future! Let's check them out!

Age of Empires Definitive Edition versus AI is Tremendously Difficult

In my week or so with Age of Empires Definitive Edition, I've come to one realization: this game - even on easy - is ridiculously hard. Whether you see this as good or bad, it is not a great way to get new fans attached to the franchise, especially with more Age of Empires products on the way. When playing online with other humans, the game plays phenomenally, and I've been having a great time. When it comes to single player matches, however, something just doesn't seem right.

One of the downsides of the Nintendo Switch is that when on the go, the battery might not always last as long as you might like it, especially when on long car rides or while flying. This can be remedied by having a nexternal battery and a USB-C cable, but that can become a clunky mess, and add extra items you then need to be accountable for.
