Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World 3DS Demo Thoughts

Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World will be coming out on the 3DS in February. However, Nintendo gave us a surprise today! A demo for the 3DS eshop was release today. Here are my thoughts on the demo.

Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World looks amazing on the 3DS. From the moment I started playing the demo for the game, my jaw was on the floor. The animation and gameplay looked and played just as good as it did on the Wii U, if not better! This game is a lot of fun.

I tried out Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World demo on the New 3DS and the regular 3DS. The game looked and played the same on both systems! I noticed no frame rate issues on the regular 3DS. Of course, people that are better at catching things like that than me might notice it. I have no idea. My experience is that the game looked amazing on both.

Also: there was no extra load after going out of the regular 3DS version of the game, like there was for the Smash Bros demo. I think gamers will be perfectly fine playing this Yoshi game on either system!

As for the differences between the Wii U and 3DS version of Woolly World, there was only one major one that I could see. In Mellow mode, you do not have yarn balls. Instead, little baby dogs help you out and you can throw them at enemies and such like the yarn balls. Mellow mode seems much easier than it did on Wii U because the dogs will actually hunt out secrets for you. As for the regular mode, it looks and plays a lot like the Wii U version. You have yarn balls in this mode!

I thought this demo was great. You get two levels to play and they both look fantastic. I do wish you got more than 15 tries with this demo though. Oh well. I think most people will want to buy this game after trying the demo anyway.

The Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World demo is currently available on the 3DS eshop. Download it! Its free!
