New Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Trailer, Release Date announced

KingdomHearts2-Nightmare Christmas

Square Enix have been fairly quiet on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix. It was announced earlier this year that it’d be coming to the west, and it was forgotten about. Just before E3, the news gummi has taken to the skies and a new trailer has returned. We have to admit, it’s looking pretty stunning.

HD 2.5 will contain the extended edition of Kingdom Hearts 2, Birth by Sleep and a video version of Re:Coded. It’s the first time the Final Mix editions of Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth by Sleep have been available in the west, so it’ll be a big deal for fans. The visuals have also been improved, distinctly topping the last HD collection (although that too was much better than the original release).

Rather than this trailer just being a quick run through of features, characters and locations, Square Enix decided to focus on how 2.5 fits into the general Kingdom Hearts timeline. There’s a short clip from the first game and, yes, a teaser for the third. The bad news is that this seems to be all we’ll see of the Disney-Square crossover this E3, a simple conversation on a black backdrop.  Still, knowing that we’ll have a “new” Kingdom Hearts game within six months is more than enough to make up for that.

That’s right, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix will be available to purchase in December this year. December 5th, specifically. If that isn’t a Christmas treat, I’m not sure what is.
