Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered PC Review
Marvel’s web-slinging gem of a title has made its way to PC in a remastered edition that launches this Friday, August 12! There is no doubt that Spider-Man Remastered could be the greatest superhero game of all time, and I do not say that lightly. I’ve been enjoying superhero titles since the SNES’s Batman Returns and nothing I have had my hands on can quite compare. Spider-Man Remastered is, simply put, a masterpiece. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this game unique!
This Spidey-Suit Fits Like A Glove
Why do people like superheroes? I’m sure there are many reasons, but certainly one of the leading causes must be that it makes us feel a sense of possibility and empowerment. It allows us to imagine a world where we might share such powers, and who wouldn’t want the ability to swing above gridlock traffic, scale skyscrapers, fight crime and help our neighbours? While these are, of course, not realities, they are a driving force behind superheroes’ popularity.
What makes Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered so successful is its ability to capture the essence of Spider-Man as a superhero. His movements, mannerisms and personality are spot-on and provide an incredibly immersive experience for the player. You’ll hear the legendary sense of humour with an edge of immaturity and enjoy the flawlessly smooth combat system that evolves over time with a solid talent tree.
Spider-Man Remastered really makes you feel like a superhero, captures the magic of smooth web-swinging glory and brings satisfying combat to top it all off.
While the visuals in the previous version of Marvel’s Spider-Man were superb, they have nothing on the remaster! This version features improved skin, eyes, hair, and facial animation, as well as ray-traced reflections, ambient shadows, and improved lighting. There are also more pedestrians, vehicles and static objects are also seen in the Spider-Man Remastered. These images are truly approaching the level that begin to trick the eye. I swear, if you aren’t careful you can easily forget that you are not in fact watching a feature film.
These exquisite graphics serve to elevate an already wildly successful game by utilizing the newest ray-tracing technology and providing the most immersive experience possible. Players should beware that the PC requirements do match the graphic quality and a high-end, modern GPU will be required to enjoy these extra visuals. For those curious, our PC specs will be available at the bottom of the article, but we did not experience any lag, frame drops or unreasonable loading screens during our review of the latest game version.
Everything The Light Touches
The last core component of Spider-Man Remastered has to be the massive recreation of New York City that serves as the setting for your heroic exploits. Full of true-to-scale monuments and landmarks, with some of MCU’s additions, of course, creates a world that is just fun to explore. Never before have I been more motivated to complete side quests (of which there are plenty), as it is just too much fun to swing from building to building and then find yourself scaling the Empire State Building or the Avengers Tower. Plus, all of those side quests provide materials you can use to upgrade your special web shots, and experience to help you delve deeper into the talent trees.
Possibly the only thing more fun that swinging around NYC is beating up the baddies inhabiting it, of which there is certainly no shortage. The combat system starts simple and then evolves with your character, as you unlock new moves and combos that allow you to keep your combat fresh with a wide range of tactics and attacks. The bonus objectives also encourage you to use different abilities by providing additional rewards for dispatching of enemies in creative ways!
Spider-Man Remastered: In Conclusion
At the end of the day, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC is a dream game for any superhero fan or action-adventure gamer. This is a AAA title that truly feels like one, polished, high-scale and fun as all heck! If you have not had a chance to enjoy this title on PlayStation, than I can hands-down recommend grabbing a copy for PC when it hits the shelves this Friday, August 12!
