More Thoughts From Me #103: The State of the Nintendo Direct

So…we had a Nintendo Direct last week. It was Nintendo Direct Mini to be exact. During that Direct, we got some new announcements. A lot of people that I follow seemed to like the Direct. I heard there were people who didn’t like it, but I never saw those comments. Well, ok, I did see those comments from one person: myself. I didn’t care for the Direct. I stated why in this article. However, I want to talk about that…

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is Being Remastered

Assassin's Creed Rogue is being remastered, a surprise announcement from Ubisoft today. Rogue, the spin off successor of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, was a title that didn't get a ton of attention as it was released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 AFTER the Xbox One and PS4 had already launched. Many people missed out on this great experience, but will get a second shot when it arrives this march.

ARK Aberration – Why ARK: Survival Evolved Was My Most Played Game on Xbox in 2017

According to my stats from Xbox Canada, I played a lot of games on my Xbox One in 2017, some on the original Xbox One, some on the Xbox One S, and a TON on the Xbox One X! One of those games that got an uptick in play time near the end of the year was ARK: Survival Evolved. This was for two reasons: first, ARK developers released a 4K update for the game which I wanted to see for myself on the Xbox One X; second, the latest expansion for ARK was recently released. Titled Aberration, this new DLC pits you against the radioactive world, deep under ground. Think ...

Three Things Assassin’s Creed Origins Doesn’t Need…But Would Be Cool

Assassin's Creed Origins is easily one of the best games released in 2017, and it has even taken my top spot amongst Assassin's Creed titles since the original, topping my previous all-time favorite, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. From start to finish, exploring Ancient Egypt and removing its citizens from the grasp of a tyrannical leader was an amazing experience. With so much to do, there really was never a dull moment. Quests were varied, and the chance at rare and legendary loot made me explore every nook the game had to offer. When we look back at ...

Top 3 Things We Want in a Pokémon Game on Switch

We all know that a Pokémon game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, hopefully in 2018, but the details of such a game are currently in the dark. Will it be an upgraded version of what has been working on handhelds for 20+ years, or will it be something in the vein of Pokémon Snap? Or, will Nintendo look to do something crazy and different, bringing the franchise in a new direction? My bet is on an experience that mimics the turn based games we've come to enjoy on Nintendo's handheld system, and after much conversation with my good friend Paul Hunter - you can ...

One More Dungeon Review

I use to play 3D first person dungeon crawlers a lot during the NES era. I also got a chance to play Doom on the PC, even though I wasn’t a PC gamer. Dungeon crawlers back then were simple, yet fun. How would a game like that be now? What if a game like that now decided to go retro and create a totally pixelated first person dungeon crawler? In fact, there’s a game just like that on the Nintendo…
