Assassin’s Creed Rebel Collection on Nintendo Switch

Although the latest Assassin’s Creed titles on Nintendo Switch are pretty old, Ubisoft should be heralded for bringing their older library to a console franchise that has only seen one title. Thanks to our friends at Ubisoft Canada, we were able to take a look at the Assassin’s Creed Rebel Collection, which includes Black Flag and Rogue!

This is not going to be a traditional review of these two great games. If you want to read about them, we do have reviews up on the site you can read! Instead, we will look at the job done porting this over to Nintendo Switch, and why Ubisoft should continue doing this with other Assassin’s Creed titles.
Ported to Nintendo Switch

There are always a few hiccups when bringing large games from the Xbox and PlayStation over to the Nintendo Switch. Thankfully, however, these games are a bit older than some others that have been brought over to the system, so the graphical downgrade is pretty minimal, except when cruising the open sea. The audio has also been brought over nicely – if you aren’t listening to those sea shanties when at sea, you aren’t playing right!
Like most games that get ported from Xbox or PlayStation, the reality here is still much the same – if you own one of those consoles, there really isn’t a major reason to get this again on your Nintendo Switch. I say that with one, major if – if you plan to play this in handheld mode, taking it on the go, then definietly purchase this game – it’s basically the only way to play anyways.

When previously speaking of the great graphical carry-over, I was strictly speaking of playing in hand held mode. On the smaller screen, the game looks crisp and bright, with minimal pop-in and only minor tearing, which i remember from the original release. Once you splash this game across your TV, however, it’s a much different story. The game struggles to maintain a steady frame rate, and when brought to 1080p, it’s definitely rough around the edges.
Why It’s Important for Nintendo Switch
Both Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue were ambitious titles when they were released, and despite being a few years old now, bringing it over to Nintendo Switch is still a decent feat. And Nintendo fans, especially those who don’t own any other consoles, likely have never played one of the video games greatest franchises. Now they can, and I really hope Ubisoft continues to bring their greatest titles to the Nintendo Switch.
Conclusion

If you play on the go, whether you’ve played Black Flag or Rogue before or not, getting the Rebel Collection is almost a must. At a budget level price, this collection of two games can offer hours of entertainment, and are two of the greatest games in the Assassin’s Creed library. Do yourself a favour and pick it up – you won’t be dissapointed!
