Animal Crossing New Horizons: A Look At December On the Island

Animal Crossing New Horizons has been out since March of this year! Wow. Sometimes it seems longer and sometimes it feels like no time at all. And now as we enter the final month of 2020, what does the game have to offer? Check out the video below and then please come back for all the reasons you should be playing Animal Crossing New Horizons in December!

December is finally here! Its last month of 2020. Whew. We’ve made it!

Animal Crossing New Horizons has been one of the biggest games released this year. Its up for multiple awards in the upcoming Game Awards on Thursday. Its also the second best selling game on the Nintendo Switch. And if that wasn’t enough, the month of December brings some cool new things to the game.

Warning: If you want to be surprised about the upcoming additions to New Horizons, you may not want to read this article. SPOILER WARNING

Things To Buy

As the weather turns colder in reality, it also starts to turn in New Horizons. You may think to yourself: I’d love to have a knit hat or a sweater for my character to wear.

Guess what? Ables will provide.

All throughout the winter you’ll find various knit hats, sweaters, long sleeve shirts and more at Ables.

But the things you can buy are not limited to clothes. Of course. You’ll also be able to buy Toys from Nook’s Cranny. I won’t spoil those for you. They can be found now as spotlight items when you enter the store. You should buy each and every one of them.

There are also other special holiday items, like stockings and snow globes that you’ll soon be able to get.

More Things to Build

As soon as you see snowflakes coming down, you should take out your net and catch them. Very soon catchable snowflakes will join the game. Later this week in fact!

The snowflakes can be used for new recipes. Watch out for balloons and build lots of snowmen.

Snowflake recipes are not the only thing coming up for building though. Once December 15th hits, the pine trees in your town will have lights on them. Shake a lighted pine tree, get an ornament, and look out for festive recipes.

The festive recipes will be absolutely perfect for buildings things to decorate your town with. Let’s just say that Jingle will be proud when he sees your town.

Toy Day

Speaking of Jingle, on December 24, Christmas Eve, a reindeer named Jingle will arrive on your island. Toy Day is the day when Jingle hands out presents to all the animals. Well, okay, you do the handing out!

Toy Day was apart of previous Animal Crossing games. Since the new Toy Day can’t be time traveled to, all we know about the day is that Jingle shows up and you help him hand out presents to animals. We don’t really know what rewards you get for doing so or if there’s anything else to the holiday yet.

It should be a really fun day though.

New Year’s Eve

Well, 2020 is almost over with. Thank goodness.

Are you ready to celebrate a new year? Well, the best way to do it is with Animal Crossing, especially this year.

On New Year’s Eve, there will be countdown clock by the Town Hall. As the clock gets closer and closer, the count will go down and the animals in your town will get even more excited. They want this year over with too!

You can see a sneak peek of the winter Animal Crossing season and many of the other things I talked about in the video included in this article.

Its a great month to play Animal Crossing New Horizons! Please share your memories of the game and your hopes for AC in 2021 in the comments below.
