Does Fuse from Apex Legends need a Buff?

If you still haven’t played Apex Legends, we definitely recommend you to do it. It is our favorite Battle Royal out there and it has a steady influx of players every month. Especially now, with the release of the 8th Season the game has more players swarming to it than ever. If you enjoy fast-paced First Person Shooters, you should get started with Apex Legends.

With the beginning of Season 8, Fuse was added to the game’s playable Legends. As with every Legend that has been added to the game, Fuse has a very distinct personality and his toolkit is very different from every other character in the game. Even if he is such a cool character, we have to pose the question that is in everyone’s minds. Is he strong enough?

This is the question we are going to answer in this article.

Who is Fuse?

If you don’t get the hint from his name, let us give you a better one. KABOOM. Do you get it now? Fuse is an explosion-oriented Legend, and his toolkit revolves around creating mayhem (get it?) and putting pressure in a specific area. Let’s see his abilities one by one.

His Passive Ability, Grenadier, allows him to throw grenades, faster, further, and more accurately. It also gives him the ability to carry 2 grenades per slot.

His Tactical ability is Knuckle Cluster. It is practically a bomb he can throw every 25 seconds and deal damage to the enemy.

To finish, we have his ultimate ability, The Motherlode. It’s a bomb you throw and it explodes in the sky, with fire falling on the ground, creating a ring of fire that deals damage and slows his enemies.

As you can see, everything he has to offer revolves around explosions. When you hear of explosions, you think of power. But this is not the reality with Fuse. Starting with his ultimate ability, it is underwhelming, to say the least. We understand that the concept is to trap your enemies in a ring of fire and pressure them there, but in reality, the time it takes for it to aim at and to land makes it a hard ultimate to hit. Add to that, that many characters have ways to escape the ring, and that the damage it does is very low, then you have yourself a pretty bad ultimate.

His ability to hold multiple grenades is great, but the fact that he can throw them faster or further away is pretty irrelevant in Apex Legends. Unfortunately, his tactical ability is pretty much a grenade and nothing more than that.

Now that you know how he works, you probably have the following question in your mind.

Does Fuse need a buff?

It is sad to say, but we believe that for now, Fuse needs some significant buffs if he is to be anywhere close to being a strong character.

It feels like the Apex Legends developers fell into the same trap as with Rampart. They created a character that might sound strong in theory, but they are not compatible with the way Apex Legends is being played. As we have said, Apex Legends is really fast-paced, and abilities that are only useful when you have the perfect positioning and the time to focus and aim them perfectly are going to be situational, to say the least.

If Fuse gets some buffs to his ultimate ability, to make it more unpredictable, or faster to use, and maybe add some power to his Tactical Ability, then we might have in our hands a very strong character. For now, though, he is a questionable pick in most circumstances.
