Titanfall Xbox One Resolution May Increase Post-Launch

Titanfall 8

Have you heard? Titanfall, the blockbuster AAA title from the people behind Call of Duty, the mech-based shooter that’s supposed to push the Xbox One’s overall launch period, doesn’t even run at 1080p! It’s been a huge talking point for people of a certain disposition since it was discovered a few weeks ago, although it might not be as permanent as you might think.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Titanfall’s lead engineer Richard Baker described what he hoped they might be able to do:

We’ve been experimenting with making [the resolution] higher and lower. We’re going to experiment. The target is either 1080p non-anti-aliased or 900p with FXAA. We’re trying to optimise. We don’t want to give up anything for higher res.

So far we’re not 100 per cent happy with any of the options. We’re still working on it. For day one, it’s not going to change. We’re still looking at it for post-day one. We’re likely to increase resolution after we ship.

Resolution is definitely a big deal going into the new generation, especially since it seems the PlayStation 4 can render at a decent 1080p. Hopefully it’s only a matter of time until development on the One picks up, and we get to the point where we can talk about more important things.
