Nintendo on iOS

Although the obvious big Nintendo news of the day was the announcement of Super Mario Run for iOS devices this December, a second little bit of information included in the Nintendo of Canada press release is what has be buzzing.

Of course I have a love for Nintendo, and as a video game review website we definitely will be looking at Super Mario Run when it launches later this year. However, tucked away at the bottom of the press release was this line,

Super Mario Run represents the next phase of Nintendo’s expansion to mobile platforms, following the release of Miitomo earlier this year. After the launch of Super Mario Run in December, Nintendo plans to deliver its previously announced mobile device titles in the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem series before the end of March, 2017.”

Now this is something I can really get behind. I love my Animal Crossing – although perhaps not as much as fellow writer Daniel – but I would love to have an Animal Crossing style game available to me 24/7. I cannot bring my 3DS with me to work, but I do carry my cell phone. Whether taking a break or eating lunch, I do look forward to playing some type of Animal Crossing game on my phone.

Trust me, my friend Daniel will definitely disagree, and perhaps might write an opinion piece on that very fact sometime in 2017.

Until then, get excited about Mario Run. For those without access to Nintendo consoles and handhelds, it really is a big deal, although I would personally rather have a new title for my 3DS.
