Assassin's Creed has been one of my favourite franchises of all time, and the changes they have made in the last few entries are wonderful in almost every way. While there were a few things in Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey that I didn't enjoy, some of those issues have been rectified in what I like to call the "New Era" of Assassin's Creed titles. From start to finish, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a fantastic experience, punctuated by dozens of highs, and very few lows. Let's dive in!

Prior to the release of Far Cry 5, Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto released a 30 minute short film titled, "Inside Eden's Gate." This short film was previously just available via a paid subscription service, but Ubisoft announced this week that the film was now viewable on YouTube, via the official Ubisoft channel. Far Cry 5 launched today across the world, on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4; if you had the opportunity to read our review-in-progress, you'll know that we absolutely love the game, and almost everything it contains! With a host of new features, and a new formula for game progression, Far Cry 5 is setting itself up to be the best in the franchise, and for good reason. When a franchise gets into it's 4th or 5th title, sometimes bad habits or complacency sets in and what consumers ultimately get at retail is a paired down, lackluster experience that disappoints in many ways. Assassin's Creed Origins is a fantastic experience from start to finish, and very few things made my cringe in my current 40 hour play through. Full disclosure: I haven't done everything you can do in this game yet, but am planning to do so. What I have done though, is experience all the new mechanics Ubisoft has included in the title, as well as completed what I consider a pretty good story, at least when compared to other Assassin's Creed titles! One of the defining features of the newest Assassin's Creed game is an all new combat system which takes into consideration your level v. the enemies level, and your equipment v. your opponents equipment.
