Painkiller

While most people are still jumping up and down after playing The Last of Us, I've had the pleasure of spending much of the last few months playing some of the worst games ever made. I really wish I was stretching things, even a little bit, but if you've been paying attention, this summer really has been terrible for gamers.

Painkiller definitely isn't in the running for best game in the world, but it can still be quite fun, when crippling slowdown and constant repetition aren't getting in the way. Even so, you'll need a lot of patience if you plan to get all of these. It'll require you to play a lot of online (almost impossible with no one playing) and do absolutely everything the single player offers (more than once), but that platinum trophy can be yours. Painkiller: Hell and Damnation is an arena shooter not entirely unlike Unreal Tournament or Quake. It's a corner of the FPS genre that's been ignored in mainstream shooters for the vast majority of this generation, with the exception of Unreal Tournament 3, which VGChartz tells me only sold around a million units on consoles, and Serious Sam, a franchise which has evened out at around the 60-70 mark on Metacritic.
