Gears of War

Officially dropping on PC tomorrow, Gears Tactics is a turn-based tactical shooter set in the Gears of War universe. With the rest of the games in the franchise sporting a heavy focus on fast-paced action, it will be quite interesting to see how a slower, turn-based and more cerebral approach to the Gears universe plays out. I certainly hope that the wide variety of weaponry available in the previous games will be a key part of Tactics because, let's face it, Gears' success was built on a tower of chainsawed grubs. Let’s dive right in!

Officially releasing next Tuesday, Gears 5 is the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise and the second title to be released since Microsoft acquired the rights to the franchise from Epic Games in 2014. With Gears of War 4 receiving mixed reviews, fans of the franchise (myself included) were holding their collective breath, if not their high hopes, to see what time of experience we could expect out of Gears 5. Let me tell you that I couldn’t have seen it coming in a million years.

Microsoft announced yesterday that the Xbox Live Games with Gold for February will lead off with an action-RPG and card game called Hand of Fate starting on February 1st for Xbox One. Microsoft will then follow up with Styx: Master of Shadows as you play a stealth goblin on February 16, also on Xbox One.

Great news has come our way as starting in July there will be two games offered on Xbox One instead of the standard one new game monthly. As seen in the above image Microsoft confirms that Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag will be offered throughout the entire month of July on Xbox One. While the new title So Many Me will be offered for a month as well but starting on July 16 until August 15.

E3 2015 was a big day for Microsoft, Xbox One and all of us. It would be only fitting that we saw the conclusion of the media brief with The Coalition, formerly known as Black Tusk, revealing the first gameplay footage from Gears 4, the new Gears of War title for Xbox One.

Cliffy B was the face of Gears of War for a long time, and though he hasn't been involved with it for a few years, he was still first in line for comment when it was sold.

The first megaton announcement of the year has blown the collective socks off of gamers everywhere. Microsoft have today announced that they've acquired the Gears of War IP off Epic. Epic will no longer be involved with the adventures of the COG and there's no chance the franchise will make it to a Sony console.
