I’ve played the orignal Steamworld Dig on the 3DS and the Wii U. It is an excellent game. And now that excellent game is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Is this version any better than the other versions or is it the exact same game as before?

Nothing has changed about Steamworld Dig’s story. Steamworld Dig for the Switch is the same experiance that it was on other consoles. This game has a really good story. Though, the gameplay is definitly the best part of Steamworld Dig.

Steamworld Dig is still a great game. I’ve played this game on the 3DS and the Wii U and now the Switch. Its a lot of fun. That said, the Switch version doesn’t bring anything unique to the table. On a very basic level, you are just getting the 3DS and the Wii U version together; this is a game you can play on the TV and in handheld mode.

If you’ve played Steamworld Dig before, then you know how it plays. For those who haven’t played it, Dig is basically all about the digging. There are some platformer elements and some action elements when you fight off enemies. The deeper you dig into the earth, though, the more things you’ll find such as powerups and jewels to sell. Steamworld Dig is a very addictive game.

Steamworld also has excellent controls on the Switch. Everything works as great as it did on other platforms. There is touch support for menus and thats neat, but its not especially useful. Dig definitely wasn’t made just for the Nintendo Switch, but this is a great port of a fantastic game. It looks good too!

Steamworld Dig looks fantastic on the Nintendo Switch. If you’ve played the game in HD before, then you will have a good sense of how its looks on the Switch. Nothing has changed. The game looks just as great on the TV as it does in handheld mode. Steamworld Dig is a treat for the eyes and the ears.

The music of Steamworld Dig may not be as great as Heist, but its still excellent and gives the game a wonderful Western feel. The sound effects are pretty good too!

Overall, though, Steamworld Dig isn’t any better than it was on previous systems. Theres nothing Switch specific in this version of the game. Steamworld Dig is a great game, but I wouldn’t recommend that you buy this title again if you already have it.

If you have played Steamworld Dig on any other platform, theres really no reason to double or triple dip for the Nintendo Switch version. Yes, the game looks great on the TV and in handheld mode, but theres nothing  new here that makes this version of Dig better than the other versions. That said, if you have never played Steamworld Dig before, you should buy this game on Switch right away! Steamworld Dig is a great game no matter the platform.

Steamworld Dig is out now for the Nintendo Switch eShop.
