More Thoughts From Me #6: Majora’s Mask Sucks

I don’t like Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask at all. Let me tell you why.

I don’t get why people like Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Yes, I’m a Legend of Zelda fan, but personally I don’t think Majora’s Mask is much of a Zelda game. First of all, the game doesn’t even take place in Hyrule and the goal of the game isn’t to save Zelda. Link is in the game, but basically, Majora’s Mask should have been a spinoff of the Zelda series.

The whole concept of having to repeat a single day over and over and over till you get it right is good for a movie but not for a game. With Majora’s Mask, the repetition gets annoying. Just when you think you’ve made some progress in the game, its time to go back once again and repeat things. Nothing about Majora’s Mask screams Zelda game!

I do think the concept of the different masks is neat, but its not very Zelda like. Majora’s Mask is an odd game that shouldn’t have gotten a remake or as much attention as its gotten. I think the more modern Zeldas, Twilight and Skyword, are a thousand and one times better than Majora’s Mask. This was not the Ocarnia of Time sequel that we deserved.

I love how you can travel between young Link and old Link in Ocarnia of Time. Its too bad that a sequel to that game couldn’t have expanded on traveling between times or found a better way to put together a repeating time concept. As it is, Majora’s Mask feels padded, weird, and un-Zelda like.

My point? Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask sucks. It is a total waste of the Zelda franchise. I hope that Nintendo never does a sequel to it. I wish they hadn’t have wasted their time on the 3DS remake. But I suppose so many people were wanting it and that Nintendo had to give in. Well, they got their game. Hopefully we’ll never to have to revisit this part of the franchise again.

So what do you guys think? Am I right about Majora’s Mask or do you love the game? Let me know in the comments!

Next week I’ll finally tell you why I’ve turned my back on Sony and Microsoft. Please remember that this column is solely MY OPINION and doesn’t reflect the site or anybody else here’s opinion. I’ll see you next week. Take Care.
