Are you looking for a new puzzle platformer to check out? Then you might want to take a look at The Fall of Elena Temple! Here is our review.

In the Fall of Elena Temple, a treasure hunter named Elena falls into a temple. She wants all the coins and so she’ll navigate traps and dungeons to get them. Its not a great story but this is a puzzle platformer and most games in this genre have no story. This one has a story plus some funny dialogue too. Of course, its the gameplay takes the spotlight here.

You navigate Elena slowly through dungeons with the controls moving her one step at a time. Pushing A will make you jump. At first, you’ll have to rely on teleporters to get to other places. Eventually you’ll get the ability to go back to the previous place you were by pressing the B button. Thats a very handy ability. It’ll come into handy especially when you’re falling toward spikes to get some coins! The game can be tricky, adding other things to help or hurt you, and it gets even harder as you progress.

The game is short, fun adventure that puzzle platformer fans should check out. The graphics are very retro and very cool.

The Fall of Elena Temple has black and white old school PC retro graphics. Elena is a small character and the dungeons are pretty simplistic looking. The game has a lot of charm though. It also has backgrounds behind the game, which takes place on a “Grimboy” pretend console. You can have the background completely surround the gameplay or you can zoom almost all the way in and only see the “Grimboy” screen. This is actually the best way to play the game.

Overall, The Fall of Elena Temple is a really neat game. Its old school graphics are charming and its gameplay, while simplistic, can be tricky and challenging the further you progress in it. If you love puzzle platformers, this is a good one to check out.

Thanks to GrimTalin for providing a digital copy of this game for review. The Fall of Elena Temple is available now on the Nintendo Switch eshop.
