Metroid Prime was one of the best games from the Nintendo Gamecube. And now its back! How does the game look now? Does it hold up gameplay wise? Here our review of Metroid Prime Remastered for the Nintendo Switch

Metroid Prime Remastered is an update of Metroid Prime from the Gamecube. The action/adventure/shooter features Samus Aran from the Metroid franchise on another mission to save the galaxy.  The game has received an update visually and control wise. Everything else about the game: from its story to its game content is the same as it was on the original. There are some minor extras: the soundtrack, concept art, and models, but its nothing special. That said, what is special how the game looks!

The visual remaster of Metroid Prime is spectacular. All the environments, enemies, and even Samus herself look amazing in and out of cutscenes. The small details in this game, plants in the environments and seeing Samus reflected in her helmet, are jaw dropping. Metroid Prime looks better than ever. The game runs just as well as it did on the Gamecube, easily transitioning from first to third person and hiding long times in elevator rides. What about the controls though? How does Metroid Prime play on the Switch?

Metroid Prime Remastered plays like it was made for the Switch. The joycons work great with this game. The response time for shooting, scanning, and switching between first/third person is fantastic. The game can be played in handheld mode and it looks great there. Metroid Prime Remaster is a lot of fun to play. This is absolutely the definitive edition of Metroid Prime.

Yes, it would’ve been nice to see new gameplay content with this remaster, but even without that, Metroid Prime Remastered is a must own for anyone who loves Metroid or even those who have never played the game before. What a great introduction to the series this game would be! Metroid Prime is still a great game and looks better than ever here. So, when’s Metroid Prime 4 coming out?
