More Thoughts From Me #221: Not So Uncharted Waters

Recently, Sony gave away the Uncharted collection, free, as part of their Stay At Home promotion. I had played the games on the PS3 but did not have them on the PS4. So of course I downloaded the collection. And I played all three of them a bit. Here are my thoughts on the Uncharted Collection!

When Sony decided to give away the Uncharted Collection and Journey for free, I was excited! I hadn’t played Journey much but Uncharted 1-3 I had played and loved. I didn’t own either so of course I got them.

I haven’t played Journey yet but I just had to play a bit of each of the Uncharted games. I wanted to see if they still hold up!

The first game is a bit rough around the edges. It looks more like a video game than the other two. The graphics on two and three are so much better. Uncharted 2-3 look and feel like a movie!

The gameplay in one is good but its more Tomb Raider-like. With the second and third games, Uncharted finds its own voice. I especially love how the second game starts. Its a real cliffhanger!

The third game starts more like a brawler, with a bar fight. Its pretty cool but its hard to beat climbing up that train in the second game.

Two and three are so amazing though. Still, the first game is an essential introduction to the series. Together, all three of these games are excellent. Its fantastic to have them all in one place! I love this collection.

Its great that Sony gave this collection away. Now I have all four of the Uncharted games on one system! What a great series.

What do you think of the Uncharted Collection?

Next week: Yes, I’ll try out Journey and tell you what I think of it.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I will definitely be playing more of Uncharted Collection!
