Clair Obscur Expedition 33 First Thoughts

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 came out today on Game Pass. I got up really early this morning and started playing it. I haven’t wanted to stop but felt like I needed to write about the game. Here are my first thoughts on Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 came out today on Game Pass. I’ve been playing it a lot this morning. What do I think of the game so far?

In Clair Obscur Expedition 33, a turn-based rpg, a group goes into the unknown to kill the person who is responsible for the death of their loved ones. And that’s all I’ll tell you about this story, other than its absolutely brilliant and it hooked me right away. I cared for these characters and wanted them to accomplish their goal.

I am completely blown away by Expedition 33! I mean, WOW, this game is incredible.

Where do I start? What about the graphics? Its breathtaking and beyond beautiful. The environments especially are so detailed and once you get beyond the introduction areas, they become full of color, like a painting brought to life. The characters are really well done too.

The beautiful graphics of Expedition 33

My favorite thing of all though? The battle system! I loved turn-based gameplay and this game has one of the best turn-based systems I’ve seen in awhile. The menus are as stylish as Persona and the battles move just as fast. I love how Gustave has a gun he can shot and target the enemies weak spots with and the skills are pretty cool. I do like the dodging and parrying in the game, though I’m not always hitting the timing right with the button presses.

The game also has great music and voice acting. When watching a cutscene, you feel almost like you are watching an animated movie. And the music in cutscenes, battles, and just exploration is wonderful.

I love this game so far. Its been awhile since I’ve playing rpg where I do not want to stop playing. I didn’t even want to stop to write this preview. I think I’ll go back now and play it some more!

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has me hooked. Stay tuned to GamesReviews.com for more on this game, including a review!

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is now available on Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC. You can download it from Game Pass too!
