Yesterday, Square Enix released a demo for Bravely Default 2 on the Nintendo Switch eshop. I’ve played the demo some and here are my first impressions of it!

The Bravely Default 2 demo is now available on the Nintendo Switch eshop. It can be found under “recent releases.” I’ve played the demo some and want to provide our readers with my first thoughts on it.

So how good is the Bravely Default 2 demo?

I think its pretty good. There are a couple of things that I hope get changed in the full game but what I’ve played so far is pretty solid. Note: I haven’t completely finished the demo yet. My thoughts are based on the early part of the demo.

First lets talk about what I hope gets changed in the actual game. My biggest gripe with the demo is how far the camera is panned out when you’re in town. Here’s hoping in the actual game the camera is a little bit closer to the main character. I’d also like to see it closer in the overworld too.

Another thing that I hope changed is the text size in this game. I’ve been playing the demo in handheld mode, so I can read the text but its so small and should be a lot bigger. I have no idea how anyone would read the text off of a TV screen.

What do I like about the demo? Let’s get to that! The battle system is really good. Its a lot like Bravely Default from the 3DS’s battle system and thats a great thing. This is absolutely turn-based battle systems at its best. I love the brave/default system and the menu layout.

Last but not least, Bravely Default 2 is a gorgeous looking game. Even with that panned out camera, the demo is a sight to behold. And based on the footage that we saw in the Nintendo Direct Mini, the full game is going to be a stunner.

Overall, I really like this demo. I want to play it a bit more and may provide some additional thoughts on it in a future More Thoughts From Me.

What do you think of the Bravely Default 2 demo? Will you be picking up the full game?
