The Pokémon Trading Card Game has been going on for over 20 years, and thousands of new players get introduced year after year, slowly growing the base of players around the world. The Pokémon TCG isn't the easiest game to understand right away, and The Pokémon Company never leaves new players in the dark as new expansions roll out. The latest expansion, Pokémon Sun and Moon: Crimson Invasion, is no different, providing two themed starter decks for new players to use, removing the necessity to build their own decks, or understand the process of doing that.

Since 1996, the Pokémon Company has been releasing video games on every Nintendo system, and today the company announced it has surpassed 300 million sales across all those platforms and games. Since 1996, The Pokémon Company has released 76 titles total. While they have released a ton of games, to reach 300 million global lifetime sales is a huge feat, and the company should be complimented for such a long, successful franchise. Every once in a while, The Pokémon Company comes out with something a bit different to commemorate a certain event, or just to surprise long time fans. Although the Pokémon X and Y collection seems like a thing of the past - especially with all the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon collections that have been released - Nintendo has resurrected the XY franchise with the Pokémon Premium XY Trainer's Collection box tin. In a press release sent out earlier this week, the Pokémon Company detailed some new premium cards that will be coming to retail very soon, and will have a full review of the new sets soon when they arrive! The Pokémon Trainers XY Collection will include 12 more full art cards, a metal coin - remember, most other packages include plastic coins! - and much more! The set will be available on November 17th, so make sure to grab it right away. If you didn't get to see the Nintendo Direct from yesterday, do yourself a favour and hop over to the Nintendo YouTube page and watch it, or see the video below. One of the coolest announcements during that direct was the unveiling of a brand new, Pokeball designed New Nintendo 2DS XL. On top of that, new details were provided for the upcoming Pokémon titles heading to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

In May of 2017, the Pokémon Company released two new tins to add to the latest Guardians Rising expansion for Pokémon Sun and Moon. Called the Island Guardians Tins, each comes with 4 booster packs - two for Pokémon Sun and Moon: Guardians Rising, 1 for Pokémon Guardians, and a Steam Siege pack - as well as select Island Guardian GX cards. Today was the much anticipated Pokémon Direct that was to outline games coming to the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. While there was much talk about what we would potentially see - a rerelease for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon Stars on Nintendo Switch - what we got was, well, slightly disappointing for some, and pretty exciting for others!

Tomorrow morning at 7 AM PDT, Nintendo will be hosting a Pokémon Direct to talk all things Pokémon. With E3 2017 just around the corner, it seems odd that Nintendo would be doing this now, but I expect a fairly big announcement tomorrow to hype people up for what Nintendo has at E3 – if what they were already going to show wasn’t enough!
