A Last of Us Musical? Naughty Dog Shows how it would Happen

Naughty Dog have released a video showing an alternative ending to their critical and commercial hit, The Last of Us. Don’t worry purists, there’s little here that’ll ruin the quiet integrity of that ending, but it’s all a bit of good fun nonetheless.

If you believe the introduction, only one person in this scene knows what’s going on. Merle Dandridge – best known previously as the voice of Alyx Vance in Half-Life 2 – is told to sing her lines. Troy Baker is told to carry on, no matter what happens.

What follows is a scene that’s rather more dramatic than the one that ended up in the game, but quite a bit less realistic.

Personally, I’m not entirely sure I believe the rather lengthy explanation at the beginning of the video (which you can skip, now you know what’s going on, by jumping to 2:44). Unless this is something they’d been doing randomly as a warm-up or something throughout the shoot, someone randomly singing would probably proffer a few more confused looks. The people smiling in the background also give it away.

I don’t suppose it really matters though. What we have here is a nice piece of behind the scenes Last of Us footage, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more.
