More Thoughts From Me #73: Final Thoughts on E3 2017

E3 2017 is over. And now its time for my final thoughts on it. How did I like this year’s E3 overall?

Metroid 4. Mario + Rabbids. Metroid: Samus Returns. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga remake. Yoshi! Mario Odyssey overload (in a good way). Wall-to-wall games from Microsoft. Spider-man PS4.

These are only a few of the big games from E3 2017. This year was especially big for Microsoft and Nintendo, but Sony had some good titles too. Unfortunately, Sony also had a very laggy E3 conference and I never got to rewatch it. My live tweet plans for that one just didn’t work out either.

I was happy with E3 2017 on the whole though. Nintendo impressed me with many titles. Microsoft wowed me with a bunch of cool looking games. And Sony had me drooling over a Spider-man game I will never play. I don’t have a Playstation 4 and I can afford to buy one just for one game. sigh.

Thats not to say there were no disappointments. Nintendo revealed only one 2018 3DS title at E3 and it was…an awful looking Sushi puzzle game. And the final day of the Treehouse, with the exception of Ever Oasis, was just a repeat of the other days. As for Microsoft, I wasn’t impressed at all by their new pricey system. Sony had their laggy conference, too much focus on VR, and repeated a bunch of games from last year…

No E3 is perfect. It doesn’t matter how many good games there are, you’ll always fine something you don’t like or something you’re disappointed by. I think, in the end, all three companies did pretty good. Microsoft and Nintendo stood out, though Sony had some impressive goods as well.

So this year, I won’t pick a “winner” (itwasnintendo). I won’t say that “the fans won” (itwasnitnendo). I dislike that phrase. I think this year E3 2017 was a draw (nopenintendowon). All three companies made most of their fans happy (thoughnintendofanswerethehappiest). Isn’t that a good thing?

Next week: Revisiting Dragon Quest 7. I wanted to play a little Dragon Quest, so I started up my save file again and visited the Download Bar. I’ll talk about what I found and why I’m happy I’m playing this game again.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. There are so many Nintendo games that I’m looking forward to!
