PDP Nintendo Switch Accessories

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch, it is inevitable that companies are going to start pumping out accessories for the system, some officially licensed, and others not. Performance Design Products (PDP) have been making officially licenced Nintendo products for a number of years now, and have once again obtained the blessing of Nintendo to do it again. Last Friday, a few of these items came to me from PDP, and for the most part, I’m really impressed.

Zelda Skins

Breath of the Wild is arguably the biggest release coming to the Nintendo Switch – and probably to any console this year – and to score on the hype, Nintendo and PDP are launching skins for the Nintendo Switch screen, Joy-Cons, and docking station. The quality of the skins is top notch, and the materials used are perfect for when you want to change things up. Unlike regular stickers, these skins will easily peel off whenever you want them too, without leaving behind any nasty mess.

That is not to say they are not secure. When put on the system – the Joy-Cons especially, since you handle them the most – they stay in place and don’t easily lift up. Far too often, controller skins begin to peel from frequent use, but with over 20 hours of play this weekend, the appearance of the decals has not changed. Applying them to the system and the dock is incredibly easy.

The product also comes with a screen protector with decorated edges. It also was very easy to apply, and is doing a great job keeping my Nintendo Switch screen protected. We got another standard screen protector with a Nintendo Switch branded cleaning wipe, but won’t be trying that out until we remove this one.

Mario Carrying Case

The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console, to be used at home via the charging station, and on the go. Despite having a screen protector on my Nintendo Switch handheld, I knew a carrying case was a must own. The Mario branded case from PDP is a great addition to anyones Nintendo Switch launch day purchase. It is very compact, and will hold your system, a USB to USB-C charging cable, and a wackload of Nintendo Switch titles. Everything is soft and padded so you won’t have to worry about damaging your unit.

The outside of the case is beautifully decorated with popular Mario icons and items, including koopa shells, coins, ? boxes, and more. For a Mario fan, it is a must own.

More to Come

PDP has a lot more items coming for the Nintendo Switch and we will buy and review the ones we think are best. We also received a carrying case for games – pictured below with all the products we have received – but since we currently only have the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild card, it’s hard to review it’s portability and usefulness. What we can say, however, is that the build quality is top notch, and the unique design will be a real selling feature for many consumers!

Special thanks to Perry and the entire crew over at Performance Design Products for sending these over. You can learn more about these products, and get link to purchase them, by heading to their website!
