NFLs Impact on America – Video Games and eSports

If it’s been a few years since you’ve played a Madden football game on your Xbox One or PlayStation 4, consider picking up this fantastic EA title this holiday season. The game has already been on sale multiple times since it’s release earlier this year, and I’d expect bargain basement pricing around Boxing Day, and the holidays in general.

The growth of football in America is booming, with giants like ESPN covering all facets of the game in the United States. It’s a growing game, and not just in the US.

In Canada, things are heating up as well. TSN is the Canadian partner for the National Football League, and carries all games live on their 5 channels within the network. For some, football is just about playing the sport, for others its just about watching. But should you reside in the United States (single game betting is still not available in Canada), you can bet on a variety of football related things. NFL Futures 2019-2020 takes a look at the entire season, and lets you pick your favourites. While some turn their noses up at this type of content, others thrive on it.
But this extends to the video game universe as well. All EA titles see great support from the development team, and large tournaments pop up all over the globe, celebrating a truly international sport. Everyone wants a piece of the NFL action, and big name sponsors come to the table to not only make these live events happen, but to offer up big winnings to whomever can claim the championship. On top of those profits, there are the betting profits as well. Betting on eSports is becoming more mainstream as eSports themselves become more mainstream. It’s becoming more and more acceptable to put your money on the backs of young men and women playing video games, and while it won’t ever surpass actual sports betting, I think it could get pretty damn close.

Getting into Madden isn’t that hard either, especially if you look at some of our most recent reviews. People are even using Madden for predicting the scores of upcoming games, which we wrote about here. Football is more than just playing the game. There is a litteny of products behind the actual sport, that ultimately bring in the dollars. This ranges from merchandise sales, to trading card, to video games, and yes, even to sports betting. The National Football League is a cash cow, no matter how you look at it, and with the recent addition of games outside the United States (in Canada and Europe for example), it’s only proving that the sport is bigger and better than ever before?
Are you into the National Football League? Do you enjoy watching the sport, or perhaps playing it? And would you ever bet on it in the future? There are tons of different things to immerse yourself in around the NFL, and how you interact with the game is entirely up to you!
