LAMO Review

The uprising of the Twitch / YouTube streamer has taken the video game world by storm, and a few specific streamers have risen to the top and dominate the industry.

While at GamesReviews we are partial to our good friend Abdallah Smash – with whom we’ve done a ton of work with in 2019 – he’s not the biggest nor most popular on the planet. Leave that to the likes of Ninja, Tim the Tatman, and more!

Thanks to our friends over a Lamo, we were sent 4 of the current vinyl figures that can be purchased through the Lamo store. But before we get to those, let’s take a quick peak at the Lamo video game, available wo for free, in Beta, on Steam!

The Game

Lamo is a battle royale style game that uses popular streamers as playable characters, and drops them into incredibly colorful worlds where they battle it out to the death. There are different weapons and devices you can use to better your chances at victory, but like all Battle Royale titles, it’s all about moving and not standing still.

What’s really cool are the number of skins that are available, allowing you to take your favorite streamers and put them into a number of wacky clothing skins. It’s great fun, and always makes for a laugh. For something that I wasn’t expecting to be good, it was a better than average experience, with a good number of people playing. You know what that means – limited waiting to get into games!

The Vinyl’s

For this review, the folks at Lamo were nice enough to send over 4 figures: Ninja, Tim the Tatman, Summit 1G, and Lirik. If you are fans of any of these streamers, the toys themselves are instantly recognizable, whether it’s Ninja’s blue hair and branding logo, or Tim the Tatmans outstanding beard, tatted arms, and amazing shorts. Each and every figure is boxy and cartoony, but a wonderful recreation of the streamer they are trying to mimic.

The detail on each is also well done. Each is wearing and using the gear you might see them wear and use in any one of their videos. This is a nice added touch, because although these streamers have unique personal features that make them, well, them, they also use specific gear, colours, and more, to really set themselves out from everyone else. And the team at Lamo does an excellent job showing off these unique features, and really giving some personality to otherwise stationary objects.

But in reality, the are not that stationary. Fans can download a Lamo app on their phone, scan the box that the figure comes in, and instantly be transported into an AR world where the figures you’ve purchased will talk and move. Further to that, a QR code is also included in the box that, when scanned, provides content for the Lamo Battle Royale experience.

If you are looking for some toys for the kids this holiday season – or perhaps yourself! – click over to playlamo.com and get purchasing today! More, limited edition figures are coming soon, so don’t miss out!
