Gambling Online in 2024

We’re on the cusp of a new year, and many people will be trying out new things in January, including the latest and greatest portable devices. Is it a good time to get started in online gambling?

While online gambling isn’t exactly seasonal, there are a few things that happen around this time of year that might get people thinking about trying out some digital casinos. The first is the host of new devices that people will be opening on Christmas morning, and the second is that fresh feeling that a new year brings where we strive to try something new.

Add to that the host of deals that will have started in November with Black Friday and will probably run through till January 2 in one form or another, and it’s a great time to take a look at taking a tentative few steps into the world of slots, pokerĀ  or sports betting.

So how are things looking for those who are just getting started?

Gambling in 2024

Technology might be changing, but the thrill of gambling always remains the same. For centuries people have wagered on anything and everything. And while it’s easier now than ever to access, it hasn’t really changed.

Going into 2024, the advice remains the same. Do you research using sites like iGamingScan to read reviews and find the best deals, know what you want before you start out and have a cash limit that you never cross. And, of course, if it stops being fun, stop gambling.

But those were true in 2014, and they’re no more or less true in 2024. That doesn’t mean nothing has changed. There are some big changes happening in the world of gambling. While we wouldn’t expect seismic shifts overnight, you can expect there to opportunities to experience the future of the hobby. You can expect news articles. You can expect new ways to gamble.

Most of this won’t impact on you in the slightest, while others will give you new opportunities and choices in the way you play. Like every other field impacted by tech, there are huge changes happening, and we don’t know how that will impact things just yet.

The Changes We Might See

It seems only five minutes ago that the (not-so-)humble smart phone changed the way we gamble. It started off slowly – with simple Flash-like games that connected us with a server. And that’s sometimes what you get today.

But the options have expanded, and then some. If you want to play in VR, there are options for that. You can pick any game, with as many themes as you can dream up, and there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find something that tickles your fancy. It’s one of the reasons we recommend you know what you’re looking for before you begin playing something. The options are just too endless.

Over the next 12 months we’re going to start seeing more advancing tech. Gambling sites will start utilising AI more and more in their day-to-day activities. In theory, this can improve the user experience in several ways, both on the surface in terms of interaction but also with security. Whether that plays out, we’ll have to wait and see. But that’s something that will build slowly over the coming decade, and we’ll see more and more seeds planted in 2024.

Sweepstakes casinos are taking off, and changing the way people gamble. Instead of betting real money, there’s a dual currency that sees you utilise free sweep coins to play games, as well as a gold coin system that you can use to win real prizes. It’s never going to top the feel of real money gambling, but it’ll certainly find its place.

Bitcoin and VR will continue to grow too. Options of playing with these methods will expand across the next year.

It’s going to be an exciting 12 months, and while gambling will never change from its core, it’s an exciting time to try your hand at this ever-interesting hobby.
