Wintermoor Tactics Club Review

Have you ever wanted to play a strategy rpg but thought “that looks way too complicated”? Well, if you have then Wintermoor Tactics Club for the Nintendo Switch may be the game for you!

Wintermoor Tactics Club is a game designed for young and newbie strategy game players; there’s a mode where you can’t even die in this game. If you have been playing strategy games for awhile, you may find the game too easy. Still there is a lot to enjoy about this game even for old school strategy players if they can get past the easy strategy.

The game is set in the 80s at a boarding school where creating clubs is a major deal. The story is focused on three kids that have formed a club called Tactics Club. They are addicted to strategy games, especially ones with dice and board game figures.

Wintermoor Tactics Club takes inspiration from both dice strategy games and video game strategy games. Its story is all about the dice D&D strategy, while its actual gameplay will remind players of games like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

As mentioned previously, Wintermoor is a pretty easy game. The strategy isn’t that difficult but it can be fun. Each of the characters have some unique and cool powers. The drawn animation during battles is pretty neat too. As you progress in the game, you unlock new things you can do in battle. That said, there is more to Wintermoor than a neat story and fun easy battles.

When not in battle, you will explore the boarding school. You can talk to your follow students and complete side quests. The “world map” is pretty cool looking. In fact, the whole game is good looking.

In portable mode, Wintermoor is a good looking game, but on the TV is looks even better. Everything looks bigger and much more vibrant in console mode. Also the wireless pro controller works better for this game than the joycons. Either way you play it though, Wintermoor Tactics is a fun, easy game that new and old players can enjoy.

If you are new to strategy games and/or on the young side, you may enjoy the game more than experienced players. Though even experienced players should be charmed by the game’s story, setting, and cozy battle system. Wintermoor Tactics Club is a great game.

Wintermoor Tactics Club gets an 8.0 out of 10.
