More Thoughts From Me Special Edition: 35 Years of Mario

Oh my god. I’m older than Mario?! 35 Years Ago, Mario jumped onto the scene and the world of video games was never the same. And now Nintendo is celebrating Mario’s big anniversary is a major way. My impressions of today’s Mario Nintendo Direct are below!

I’ve always liked Mario. My very first game ever (or at least the first one I remember playing) was Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt for the NES. Duck Hunt was neat but Super Mario Bros was fun.

After that game, I played every Mario game I could get my hands on: Super Mario Bros 2, Mario 3, Super Mario World, Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, the Mario Maker games, and the various New and 3D games. My absolute favorite is Super Mario Odyssey. What an amazing game.

I had heard the rumors of Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D Allstars but I didn’t believe them (especially AllStars). I was wrong. Obviously I was wrong. I had no idea how excited I would be about these games.
Don’t get me wrong, like I said, I’m a Mario fan but my level of excitement for these rumors wasn’t high.

Then I saw the Mario Nintendo Direct today and it blew my mind.

The Game and Watch Super Mario Bros device looks so good. Even the Mario Kart toy/AR game looks neat! I was totally surprised by the Super Mario Bros 35 players game (Tetris much) and I wanna play that too.

Oh and I can’t wait to get that Mario furniture for New Horizons (though I wish it was coming sooner). And I am going to play Super Mario AllStars (SNES) right after writing this.

I remember picking up AllStars for my SNES and how excited I was to play it. I have the game still! I’m excited to play it on the Nintendo Switch!

But Super Mario 3D AllStars was the game that got me extremely excited. I can’t believe that Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy are all coming to the Switch in one collection! Wow! That is amazing.

I think I’m especially excited for Sunshine because its been very long time since I’ve played it. The HD upgrade for it (and all the games) looks so good.

The only thing thats a bit weird is that the collection will only be available for sale for a limited time. I’m not sure why they are doing that, I guess to make it extra special but I wish they’d keep it published forever. Oh well.

Nintendo is going all out for Mario’s 35 Anniversary and I am so onboard with this.

Thank you Nintendo for improving our week!
