More Thoughts From Me #82: The Truth Is Still Out There

I’m about to carbon date myself a little. I remember when the X-Files originally started in the 90s. I was just a kid. I had never seen a show like the X-Files before. Two FBI agents, Mulder and Scully, investigated aliens, monsters, and other stuff every week. And when I got a chance to play an X-Files PC game, I jumped at it. I’m not a PC gamer, but I do love point & click games. While I don’t remember everything about that game, I will talk about what I remember and also wonder out loud why there hasn’t been an X-Files game lately.

The Truth is out there. It just doesn’t appear in video game form that often. Awhile back, I can’t remember when, I had a PC game called The X-Files. It was a full motion point & click video game about the tv show. The story was, sort of interesting, but the gameplay wasn’t altogether that good. It was just your usual point and click game. There was nothing that made it special.

I liked the game alright but I never did get too far into it before just giving up on the game. I don’t think it ever ran right on my old computer either. Mulder and Scully were in the game and a lot of the X-Files stuff like the black ooze and aliens popped up. It could have been better though.

Why hasn’t anyone made an X-Files game lately? With the X-Files making a comeback via the revival, now would be the perfect time. Can you imagine an X-Files game on the Nintendo Switch?!! Mulder and Scully solving a monster of the week case would be great.

If the developer could get David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to sign on for the voices that would be even better. What kind of game style would it be though?

Does the X-Files have to be a point & click game? Mulder and Scully did shoot their guns a lot. An X-Files game could be an action/adventure style game. Think Uncharted or the Batman games. Of course, if another point & click game was made, it would have to be made by Telltale.

Telltale has done games for the Guardians, Batman, and the Walking Dead so far. I definitly think they could make a great X-Files game. I still hope it would appear on the Switch!

However, who says that an X-Files game has to be serious! What about a Lego X-Files game!? Almost everything else has been made into a Lego form game. Why not the X-Files? They could take some of the shows most famous episodes and weave them into a Lego story. It would certainly be unique. I just wish someone would do an awesome X-Files game already

What do you think an X-Files game should be like? Please let us know in the comments!

Next week: An ARMS global testpunch is this weekend! I will try the testpunch out and report back next week. Will I like ARMS?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine. Now I feel like watching an episode of the X-Files!
