More Thoughts From Me #236: The Return of Final Fantasy 15

In More Thoughts From Me #220, I wrote about Final Fantasy 15 for the Playstation 4 and how I wasn’t getting into the game very much. I had stopped playing it and I was unsure if I would go back to it. For a long while, I didn’t. And just this last weekend, I started playing it again and…I like it a lot now. What? Let’s talk about Final Fantasy 15!

I really liked Final Fantasy 15 Pocket for the Nintendo Switch. I gave it an 8.0 out of 10! But when I played Final Fantasy 15 for the Playstation 4 for the first time…I thought it was alright.

So I stopped playing FF15 and I wasn’t sure if I’d go back to it.

Then last weekend, I was kind of bored and I looked at my PS4 for a game to play and I thought “well I’ll try FF15 again.”

At first I still wasn’t sure if I’d get into the game. I had to figure out where I was in the game and how to find the next place to go. The world of FF15 is huge and its not always easy to figure out where to go and how to get there.

Yes, you have a car that can autodrive you places. Then you reach your destination and…have to start walking to the next place. The mini-map is kind of helpful but in a general sort of way.

But I eventually figured out where to go, got there, and then I moved on to the next plot point and the next and the next and I kept progressing in the game and FF15 kept getting better!

The plot of Final Fantasy 15 is now a lot more interesting, theres been some really cool places to visit, and amazing visuals too. Whew.

For instance, I fought a giant titan and it was incredible. Wow. That battle was mind blowing visually and pretty fun.

And also I have to say that I’m starting to like FF15’s combat system a lot. I use to think it was just okay but then I figured out how you make and equip magic, which made battles even cooler. I also figured out how you direct your teammates to do stuff. I’ve gotten a lot better at the whole warping places thing too.

Oh and I think I might be getting an actual summon soon!

I’m starting to really like its gameplay for the most part.

It still takes forever to get to places though. The whole autodriving thing is…boring. But I’m not good at the actual driving. The thing that saves the driving a little bit is the classic Final Fantasy music that you can listen to while driving. I can also listen to the classic FF music while walking around now too. Its awesome. I also like the camera aspect of the game: taking pictures and the game taking pictures for you. It makes the game feel more like a journey with a bunch of friends.

I am going to keep playing this game! I can’t wait to get a summon. I also wouldn’t mind exploring more of its world and seeing what secrets are out there. Oh and I want more classic Final Fantasy music! I’m looking forward to playing more of Final Fantasy 15.

What do you think of FF15? Let us know in the comments!

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I wonder what the next Final Fantasy will be like!
