Super Destronaut DX

After all these years, Galaga is still a popular game. People want to play Galaga. People even want to play Galaga clones. The space shooter genre is still fun and addictive. Yes, these are pick and play games. These are the types of games that you play for a little bit, stop, go play something else, and then come back to them again later. Galaga and its clones (when done right) are short fun. Enter Super Destronaut DX for the Nintendo Switch. Its, without a doubt, a game inspired by Galaga. The question that needs to asked is this: Is Super Destronaut DX fun?

blank

Super Destronaut DX is a very simple game: you move left to right, avoid enemy fire, and destroy as many of the enemy ships as you can. Thats basically all there is to the game. That said, within that simple concept are multiple modes.

If you’re interested in Challenges, then Super Destronaut has a Challenge Mode. If you want the classic, basic Galaga inspired game, go with Classic mode. There’s also a local multiplayer mode, Time Attack, and Hardcore Mode (one life to live). This game offers a lot of content.

Best of all is that Super Destronauts controls are tight and work really well. This game is fun to play.

And Super Destronaut has really good graphics too. The graphics are retro inspired without really being retro. I like the look of this game a lot.

In the end, Super Destronaut DX is a good game. It doesn’t do anything new or different from Galaga or any of its clones, but if you enjoy this sort of game or if you’ve never played this sort of game before (I’m sure theres somebody), then you may want to give this game a look. We all need games that we can just pick up for a little bit and have fun with. Thats the kind of game you’re getting here. I enjoyed this game and I think if you are a space shooter fan, you’ll enjoy it too.

Super Destronaut DX for Nintendo Switch gets a 7.5 out of 10. A good fun space shooter!

Thanks to Ratalaika Games for providing a review copy of this game. Super Destronaut DX is now available on the Nintendo Switch eshop!
