Why It’s a Great Time to Be a Path of Exile Fan

Ever since the launch of Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile, there has been a lot to get excited about for fans of the game. With free expansions, regular updates, and an interesting roadmap ahead, there is a lot to be psyched about at the moment if you have delved into the ARPG and everything it has to offer.

So if you are a PoE fan, here are a few reasons why you should be excited, and why now is a great time to get yourself into the franchise.

Latest Free Expansion – Delirium

Path of Exile’s newest free expansion, Delirium, could be considered one of the most interesting add-ons that we have seen in a while. As with other additions, Delirium challenges players to go out and explore new enemies, locations, and ways to add on to their seemingly infinite ways of customization.

There is an eerie aura to this expansion, in which you are transported to a foggy dimension with mirrors aplenty. The new enemies you find inhabiting these areas are not to be messed with either, those mutated by the fog will prove to be a challenge for even the most hardened of veterans. Even this late after release, those who occupy their time with PoE are able to enjoy free content being added, which will more than tide them over for what’s to come.

Path of Exile Mobile

If mobile gaming isn’t your bag, then you might meet that heading with a hefty shrug or an eye-roll accompanied by a deep sigh. But what developers Grinding Gear Games are looking to offer the many things that put people off playing games on their phones.

With a sense of self-awareness, the devs are looking to make Path of Exile in-house, as opposed to outsourcing it to another company to make the PoE mobile rendition. What’s more, they’ve been adamant that they intend to avoid the trends that let a lot of mobile games down, such as the overuse of adverts and microtransactions such as buying Poe currency and PoE trading, meaning that we could see an ARPG that is as close to the core game as possible.

A Sequel is in The Works

And yes, there is a Path of Exile 2 that is currently in development. Whilst many fans took this as a direct sequel to the first game, it isn’t quite as it seems. Rather than be a completely separate release, it will in fact work alongside the current base game, as an expansion of sorts. Rather than being a standalone release, it will carry over your progress whilst overhauling how the original game works at the same time.

Set 20 years after the events of the first PoE, Path of Exile 2 will introduce a new seven-act story arc that will bring about new visuals using physics-based rendering, and will rework the current game’s mechanics.

With all that being said, it’s certainly a promising road ahead for PoE fans. With new content to the base game and two more renditions now in development, now is a great time to get involved if you haven’t done so already.
