Fujifilm Instax Mini Link Review

A couple weeks ago, the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link arrived for review – Fujifilm Canada were nice enough to send over the Nintendo Switch bundle, which included the specially released Instax Mini with Nintendo Switch colours, and a Pikachu silicone cover. But while the whole package looks very awesome, is it worth picking up for a few games on Nintendo Switch? Let’s dive in!

When using a free smartphone application, fans of a few Nintendo Switch games can snap photos and print them out on adorably sized pieces of photo paper. These pictures make great little memories that can be pinned on bulletin boards, tapped to the corner of your computer monitor, or even mailed off to friends for their enjoyment. Setting up the printer with the app was a piece of cake, and it took me less than 15 minutes to get from the unboxing stage to printing out my favourite pictures.

The Instax Mini Link is…well…mini. It fits nicely into the palm of your hand, and would be easy to pack up and take anywhere you go, which is great for on the going gaming and sharing with friends (post pandemic, of course). It comes with a micro-usb cable for charging, and the only downside to the product is here – where is the USB type C!

So besides the optional Pikachu silicon case, what makes this ‘Nintendo?’ Fujifilm has used blue and red accents – like the Switch Joy Cons – to highlight this specific printer. Blue around the Instax name on the front, and red around where the photos come out. It is a small, but still outstanding addition to the product.

So how do we get our photos from New Pokemon Snap, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario Odyssey to our printer? It’s simple really. Simply open the picture you want to print and click the “send to smartphone button” which will display a QR code that you can scan with your smartphone after you’ve downloaded the Instax Mini Link for Nintendo Switch application. Once you’ve carried the photo over, you can add some borders and other cool additions within the application before sending the photo to the printer. There are a variety of other awesome features within the application that are worth checking out, so be sure to look at everything before finalizing the photo.

Photos take around 75-90 seconds to fully print, but when you are done you will haveĀ  fantastic, Fujifilm quality photo to enjoy. If you ever had an instant printer from Fujifilm before, you’ll know that their quality is fantastic. And that’s about it – if you want to get awesome little photos from your favourite Nintendo Switch games, getting this is a no brainer! We are really enjoying it!
