Over the weekend, PAX East was held out in Boston. Nintendo was there and youtuber GameXplain got 20 minutes of new footage of Metroid Prime Federation Force for the 3DS. The footage features a boss fight, multiplayer gameplay, and more.

Metroid Prime: Federation has come under fire from some Metroid fans because it doesn’t feature Samus Aran as its lead character. I’m a big fan of Samus Aran and the Metroid series, but I do think its important that we see other characters and other places in that universe too. By seeing other characters and places, it makes the Metroid universe feel more alive and interesting. Also, I have to say that the gameplay shown in the new footage looks really good. Its very similar to what we’ve seen before in the Metroid Prime franchise, but with some new characters and elements. I think Metroid fans (and Nintendo fans in general) should try to be more open to new things. In fact, a lot of fans complain that Nintendo never does anything new, but when they try to do something new, the fans complain again thats its not the same old thing. At least give this new game a try before saying its no good! Hopefully Nintendo will release a demo for those fans that are still on the fence about this game. Of course, everyone still has plenty of time to make their mind up about Federation Force since the game was recently delayed till August!

What do you think of the new footage?
