More Thoughts From Me #211: Welcome to Snack World

I didn’t think I’d get to play Snack World for awhile. Surprise, surprise, though, I was able to get my hands on the game. So what do I think of Snack World? Does it live up to the hype?

Snack World is very much a dungeon crawler. Yes, there is a town hub and you can buy things there. You can also pick up side quests and talk to villagers. But Snack World is, at its core, a game about going into dungeons and seeing how much loot you can get.

There is a ton of loot in this game. You will find so many treasures in each dungeon and you’ll get more treasures when you do better on missions. Try not to get killed or poisoned or lose an ally. You can get some pretty cool items in these dungeons. And best of all, the dungeons are randomly generated so each time you go back to a mission, the dungeon will be different and its likely that you’ll get different loot.

The game’s combat, meanwhile, is pretty simple but fun. I especially like how many different weapons there are to find and try out. And the snacks, aka your allies in the game, are all really neat. It can be tough getting new snack allies but it is well worth the effort.

Snack World has a light rpg element to it too. Your character will level up, gain skill points, and you can add those skill points to different stats that’ll make your character stronger. It also matters what weapon and accessory you have equipped. There is no job system in this game but there are different ways to play and develop your character!

And you might be wondering about Snack World’s story. Well, it won’t win any awards but there is a lot of funny dialogue in this game. I especially love when the characters break the fourth wall and talk directly about the player. That said, there are some gross things in this game. You have been warned!

Snack World, overall, is a really fun game. It doesn’t take itself seriously. I’m more than fine with that. Its always great to have another game thats just about collecting loot and hitting stuff.

Have you played Snack World? What do you think of it?

Next week: I take a quick look back at each of the Animal Crossing games so far. Which one is the best? Which one is the worst? What do I like about each one? Is New Horizons out yet?!

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Snack World is also a nice time killer.
