Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Free Update 1.28.20 (Video)

Animal Crossing New Horizons will be getting a new free update on January 28th! Check out the trailer below for your first look at it and then please come back here for my thoughts on the latest addition to New Horizons.

At first glance, I was disappointed by what I saw in the January update trailer. Yes, we knew Pave and Festivale were apart of this update but honestly I was hoping there would be a bit more to it…

After looking into things more though, I have to say that I’m slightly more excited.

According to AC Pocket News, there will be Festivale clothes additions, plus a whole new set of emotions to purchase via Nook’s Cranny! The Viva Festival emotions set sounds good. I love the new emotions in New Horizons so far and I’m looking forward to more being added.

New special items through Nook Shopping will be available too, such as a familiar Groundhog Day item and a rug celebrating the Super Bowl. Oh and I’ve heard beans are making a comeback too! Also Maracas will be the thank you update gift this time. So cool.

Festivale itself is on Feb. 15th and looks a lot like it did in New Leaf. However the preview we got the Festivale furniture lets us know that that set has changed and looks a lot better.

Overall, I’d say this update is okay. Its better than the preview makes you think it is but its not one of the best updates. That said, there is another update coming in March that will feature…Mario items! That update should be awesome.

In other Animal Crossing news, the Hello Kitty, aka Sanrio, amiibo cards will be coming to the US and the UK on March 26th. This is the first time they’ve been out of Japan. They will be available via Target in the US. Additionally they’ll be coming to select retailers in Canada! Get ready amiibo card collectors!

What do you think about the 1.28 New Horizons update? Are you looking forward to it? Do you collect the amiibo cards?
