LEGO Jurassic World Carnotaurus Chase Review

With the release of the final Jurassic World film, dinosaurs have been given yet another boost. Toys are being released, board games are coming out, and there is lots to be excited about if you are a lover of the giant beasts. Our friends at the LEGO Group International were kind enough to send over a few sets for us to review, and first up is the Carnotaurus Chase. Let’s take a look!

The Carnotaurus Chase doesn’t take that long to put together, but it’s still an impressive little set. With a large vehicle to roam the grounds and a helicopter to take to the air, there is a little something for everyone in this set. Add in the lare LEGO Carnatourus and you’ve got the makings of a real LEGO Jurassic World film set! With no help from myself, my eight year old son Lochaln was able to put the pieces together and get the set built within an hour. And he was thrilled with the build. The 3 axle truck was especially great for him. It felt really grand and big he said, and it is one of his favourite LEGO vehicles in the collection.

What I love about this set, and most of the LEGO Jurassic World sets, is that they are great for sharing. This set comes with a massive dinosaur and a few minifigures as well, including the famous Owen Grady. Add to that mix two Jurassic World: Camp Cretacious characters: Sammy and Kenji. For those with little knowledge of the Netflix spinoff television show, the sets various characters might be an unfortunate addition, compared to other Jurassic World characters. For my son Lochlan, however, being able to play with Sammy and Kenji from the Netflix show was a real boost, especially since he has never seen any of the Jurassic Park or Jurassic World films.

The inclusion of Owen Grady seems like a safe addition for those unfamiliar with Camp Cretaceous, unless the character will be making a surprise appearance in the shows final season launching this year. Still, it’s a great addition, and a well thought out plan from LEGO.

Although the price-per-piece on this set is not as good as we might like, it should be noted that it comes with three minifigures and one very large dinosaur. The dinosaur itself has posable legs and arms, and can be set up almost any way you want – standing, roaring, running, and more.

This is a really great play set, and one my kids are going to have a ton of fun with it! We have a few other sets kicking around the house, and when we put them all together there are dozens of hours of fun. In the past week or so, my kids are already recreating scenes from Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous all around the house, and it makes me so happy to see the joy LEGO brings to them. If you are in the market for a great set, this is an easy pick!
