Top Three Nintendo Switch 2 Titles I’m Excited to Play

With the Nintendo Switch 2 launching on June 5th, here are a list of the top three games I’m most excited to try out when the console arrives. Nintendo of Canada has sent GamesReviews a console, Pro Controller, GameCube Controller and camera for review, along with Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour – prepare yourself for a ton of content over the next few weeks!

Mario Kart World

How can this NOT be on your list of things to play the second you get your Nintendo Switch 2 unboxed. Opinions on the game have been flowing fast since Tuesday, as media members from the biggest outlets talked about their time with both Mario Kart World and Welcome Tour during all-day hands-on events at Nintendo. The basic sentiment from most is that the racing aspect of the game has never been better, the grinding and wall riding are phenomenal, the soundtrack is amazing, and the other things are a bit of a mixed bag.

Some folks really enjoyed the open world and what it offered, while others felt it was empty and a bit bland and boring. I also noticed VERY little chatter around the game’s battle mode, a personal highlight of mine since the days of Block Fort on Nintendo 64. Regardless of the chatter, Mario Kart World is my most anticipated game for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, but I also want to play others!

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour

Listen, we can chat at length about whether Welcome Tour should have been a pack in title or not, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to play and experience this title. First and foremost, there is a lot more difference in the Nintendo Switch 2 than meets the eye. Sure, we all know the console is a bit bigger, has more internal storage, has upgraded Joy-Con, and more. But based on what I have read about Welcome Tour, there are a ton of neat features buried into the Nintendo Switch 2 that perhaps we are not expecting. This ranges from better haptics and rumble support, to the mouse feature, to who knows what all else! This might not be a flashy game or anything to write home about, but it’s one I want to experience none-the-less.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

The reviews for Rune Factory on Nintendo Switch have been pretty favorable outside of one, very major, thing – the performance on the Nintendo Switch is pretty trash by all accounts, and the game struggles a bit in certain areas. I expect the performance and load times on Nintendo Switch 2 to be very impressive. I almost always have a cozy game on the go, and so Rune Factory will probably be my first cozy game experience on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Not only can I farm and build out my village, but I can romance and fight as well. Rune Factory has always been an “everything but the kitchen sink” experience, for better or for worse, but based on what I’ve seen and read, this might be the most impressive in the series so far. I’m not a huge Rune Factory fan, but I cannot wait to try this one!

What are the games you are looking forward to most? Let me know in the comments below, and stay tuned for more Nintendo Switch 2 coverage!
